I don't get why people bitch so much about the public school system. If you don't apply yourself, everything in life is gonna suck, period. Maybe I just go to a good school or something.

I was bored to death in public school. I read the syllabi for the private school we want to send our son to and wished I had gone to that one. Very challenging and interesting all the way from kindegarten to 12th grade. Plus, they never make the local news for a teacher molesting a kid, or kids getting into fights, or an administrator handing out a ridiculous punishment for something that should maybe require an afterschool detention.
Did you go to a public school below the mason dixon line?
If so that would explain it.

public school till age 14. private school for rest of my schooling. My parents have been paying up the wazoo for my tuition since age 14. Now Im paying for my own tuition and $3000 per class makes me cherish school much more.

public school for pre-k - 12 it was fine
went to a very good small privite college, i have a BS in physics

most of the people i went to college with when to pub HS and they were some of the smartest ones at the school,

when/if i have kids they will also go to pub school

NY - Public School.
NY - Private College. (attending)

honestly, public grade school was a lot of fun and my parents were paying for it already. it really depends on the kid and the level that he wants to learn at. my Middle and High school offered many accelerated/honors classses for people who were a bit 'faster'

...Sadly, though, my parents' reason for teaching me at home was to "protect" me from things that I'll probably wish I wasn't so "protected" from when I get to college this fall. This has lead to a situation where I get along much better most of the time with adults rather than kids, and I tend to loathe dealing with the average specimen of my own age. 😱 🙁

Yup.

Same here, & i hated them for it.

I am kinda the same way.
I get along better with people older than myself...expecially girls.
Can't stand the immature young ones...

Piublic schools for 1-5th grade. Private schools for 6-10th grade. Public schools for the rest of high school.

I don't think that the quality of education was significantly better at the private school, but the attitudes and actions of the students at a school where the parents actually care enough to try and give thier kids the best possible education are significantly better than those at a school where half the people just plain don't give a crap.
