nope.

Though I did change a few things in my older brothers 286, booted it up and the mobo fried, all the parts(including all the PCI cards and CPU) were all fried. I was under STRICT orders not to TOUCH his computer while he was gone. Lets say I got a nice ass whoopin when he found out. (back then his top of the line 286 was like $1500 easy, maybe $2k)

Back in the days when 286's were "top of the line", you couldn't buy one for 2k! $2k is what you can get a midranged computer for nowadays or a highend built one.

I have a feeling the system he was talking about was most likely a 486, when did this "Incident" happen? If it was a 286 and you got it for $2k it must have been a lower end model.
All I remember is that it was an Acer, and the incident was sometime around 92 or 93. All the parts are actually still in the attic at my parents house, I could probably look up the model/year. I did salvage the hard drive a few years later, my bro had a DOS game on there he really liked, so I retreived it for him, it was a whopping 20MB hard drive.

Now that i think of it, It might have been a 386, but definetly not a 486, that was his replacement

Yup, I was afraid. It worked fine though. Then I had to figure out how to make it work right. That was even more fun. Pretty much got me hooked.

nope. i was excited to see it up and running 🙂 and it ran without a hitch.

subsequent installations, however, have been less than hopeful, especially with the addition of additional components, such as more sticks of RAM, harddrives (i have 6), and PCI devices.
