Pretty nice find there. I don't do drugs, but I really dig this one.

"Cool! Refreshing! Sanitary! Sno-Blo nose doucher..."

Does seem hard to believe but they look legit at any rate.

Yeah, they are legit ads. There were also restaurants that had special tables for your nose candy needs. Drugs were HUGE and in your face it was one reason why the whole Nixon drug on wars began.

The '80's are remembered for hookers and blow, but people forget how huge it was in the '70's. It was the celebrity drug. The cocaine epidemic was also a major driver in the huge spikes in urban crime at the time. Notably in New York and LA.

These ads are probably legit, but likely only appeared in very obscure magazines with low circulation. Maybe High Times carried them but I think they're more of a pot crowd.

I've got (or at least, had) an 80s copy of High Times that someone left at my house, I remember there being an ad in it for "crystal incense" that seemed pretty fishy. Maybe I'll dig it up and look for anything else.

Paraphernalia was legal back then. Head shops, places that sold pipes, bongs etc where all over the place.

A lot of places still have head shops. There are three just on my commute home.

The difference is that they can't blantely say the products are for drug use. You have to play along and pretend that you are buying this very fancy custom blown double chambered "water pipe" to smoke tobacco out of.

I was in a head shop something like a decade ago, and they had a pipe that looked like a skunk. I made a comment about it, and the lady started complaining at me. I said I understand what she's saying, but if she's got a pipe that looks like a skunk, she can't be getting all upset when someone says "Look at this pipe that looks like a skunk".
