We're Hiring web developers/professional services

Everytime I tack on to another job posting, no bites. So how about a topic of my own 🙂

We're expanding our engineering department and also ramping up professional services group. SugarCRM is a an commerical-open source CRM application whose rivals include salesforce.com and Oracle. We've grown very fast in the past year and we're growing again.

The code is in PHP w/ MySQL and Oracle backend. You don't need to know php but a scripting language helps. Java developers (since they're popular) will transition easily.

PM me first, do not send your resume to jobs@. I'm an engineer here so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hey, I'm a PHP/MySQL, javascript, css, Flash, graphics guy, live in Oakland, have used SugarCRM, and happen to be looking for a new gig....cool.

I'll PM you a link to my resume. I got a couple recent things to add to it but it's somewhat current.

This thread has generated quite a few leads through PM, more than I was expecting. Even one that has a 2nd round of phone interviews lined up! to mods for stickying 🙂

Cool! How do you make any money on free open source software? Do you pay your engineers, or it's a work for fun?

work is great, it's commerical open source. We also have a large in house PS department.

I love your software btw....as soon as you guys get IMAP working correctly we will go live.

Our small business only uses it for leads and small stuff right now.

Basically, we are shifting from the hell that is pop to imap instead of making the irreversible leap to exchange. Our main issue is with the management of email, such as drafts and sent mail.

Numerous peopel have expressed their reservations based soley onthis issue, and I would be enthralled if a future release would take care of this issue. We use multiple apps, and interopability depends, at least in our case, mostly on the accessibility of imap email. Contacts and such are a stretch of course, but support for some sort of access would make my day...

Honestly, it is fantastic sfotware. Even my boss (my dad actualyl) loves it. Without hte email though we can't put it into production.

Thanks for the kind words Goose. On the IMAP issue, the reason why it is a weak point in our product is because php's imap libraries don't do what we want it to do 🙁 I know the latest plans were to write our own imap php library but I'm not sure where that has been headed lately.

Our beta for 4.2 is scheduled to be launched in the near near future. Keep an eye out for it and the latest improvements for email. In the mean time check out the community preview for that release @ http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/demo/42-community-preview.html

I already logged into 4.2😉

I'd appreciate any advice that you can give me on this issue. we are looking for a software solution but jsut can't get past the email issue. I can make my own domain so I guess SOME of the addresses could be POP-based 🙂().....etc...

I would go to the forums at sugarcrm.com and ask for help in the open source forums. The person responsible for the feature is actually in there daily answering questions about that module.

Thought it would be appropriate to add that I got the Professional Services job thanks to fs5. The job fits my skills perfectly and the company is great.

fs5, me, and a few other guys were playing team hacky sack with a net and having a couple beers out front after our meeting today 🙂
