Fact!... Donald Trump insists a free press should not exist in America. Instead, Trump insists on one media organization that does nothing but push his agenda, spew his propaganda, and agree with every word out of his mouth.
And every media outlet opposed should be tarnished as FAKE NEWS.

Fact!... Donald Trump insists our institutions to be reorganized and stacked with pro-Trump operates.
The CIA, the FBI, the Military, congress, and the presidency. YOU'RE FIRED FBI...!


Fact!... Donald Trump insists the citizenry only hear and are only exposed to what "Trump" insists the citizenry should be exposed to. Only what "Trump" insists the citizenry can see, hear, read, and watch from the media.

Fact!... Donald Trump insists on absolutely no accountability. Only himself to decide where, when, and what the people are allowed to judge. For only Donald Trump is to decide whether tax returns should be released, financial Improprieties investigated, or when held to any accountability including accountability from the checks and balances built into the system.

Fact!... Donald Trump insists on one form and only one form of government where he and only he decides how that form of government should operate. Donald Trump's only vision of government is a dictatorship.

Fact!... Donald Trump does not believe in the US constitution designed to protect every American citizens right to protest. Citizens right to free speech. The right to protest something as simple as a football game by kneeling, raising a hand, clenching a fist.

And now.... Donald Trump insists on a communist form of military parade right down the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC to wrap himself around, bathe himself within, all while using such an event to divide. To first divide, then define any and all opposed as un-American, as un-patrotiic, as not worthy in his eyes.
To punish his opposition as he sees fit.
To punish anyone and everyone who dare question his intentions to the extend they must be disallowed from participating within society.

THIS IS AN AMERICAN COUP, people.... Full blown!

And this Trump cancer growing from within America has spread to the point of consuming an entire political party.
And remember people.... in America we only have two political parties, more or less, that really matter.
What we are now left with is one party, the democratic party, and the Donald Trump coup taking place.
We no longer have a republican party.
That party has died.
That party is never coming back.

They, the politicians engaged and supportive of this coup dare to still call themselves republicans for identity sake, to give people something to identify with in name only, but they are nothing of the sort.
They are not the republican party.
They have ambushed, kidnapped, consumed from within the republican party.
To re-define our entire political system, including each and every American institution.
To silence our rights and freedoms guaranteed us by the founding fathers.

And with Trump devising this Donald Trump communistic style of military parade, with that taking place will be the final straw. The conclusion of the coup.
Their declaration of success.
What will then follow, no one can really imagine. But we can guess.
One only need take note of how the Soviet government operates, or how the government of communist China operates, you pick the dictatorship...
And bye bye America pie.
Tragically, we have no American institution remaining or intact capable of stopping such a takeover.
No political party remaining since the republican party now ceases to exist, and the democratic party lacks the power.

Is it any wonder that a wolf in sheeps clothing could evolve to enact such a coup?
That enough American citizenry exist that would allow freedom of speech to be squashed?
That the freedom of our courts allowing such things as the marriage between same sex couples should be eliminated?
That a system allowing free courts to fairly judge those accused should be brought to a halt?
That protest perceived as un-American should be outlawed and those involved punished?
That in a free two opinion free society, that one opinion should be forever silenced?
Is it any wonder this was destine to one day take place in America?
And that enough of our citizenry would jump onboard supporting such a coup believing a dictators control over the citizenry far more preferred than freedom of expression?
Have the people grown to such a majority where they can enable and cheer the total dismantling of American ideals, while failing to fully realize what they are engaged in?
And.... to look the other way as this coup unfolds?
In short... the people have allowed this.
To allow this coup to precede.
And the institutions of America be dammed.
They fully believe that the end justifies the means.

A dictator Donald Trump.
An American overthrown.
A successful coup.
A media ran solely by dictatorship and propaganda.
One control, one voice, one society, one propaganda machine.
This is our new government in the making.
Our mistake was believing this could never take place in America. Believing America was infallible as well as indestructible.
However.... our enemy came not from abroad but from within.

Once this parade takes place, an seemingly simple thing this parade, this will chime in an entirely new form of American government. No longer the America as America was founded, but the form of government no past American president nor people could have ever imagined or would they recognize.
God save the queen.

People thought they were simply electing a man that wanted to build walls, wanted to whiten the face of America, wanted to promise jobs and promise wealth and promise world superiority.
People never realized what they were enabling was a full blown coup followed by a full blown dictatorship.
But you did it America. You did it.

So yeah, there is substantial evidence that Trump is angling for an authoritarian takeover of this republic, as any historian will tell you that he's ticking each mark in the playbook, but it seems far too many people are handcuffed to the notion that we need to just wait it out until "the real evidence" pops up, whatever that means.

Many of those aren't cause for concern or aren't happening now. Every politician portrays themselves as the one with the answers who will save us. Both parties want to control the news narrative if possible, or spin it to their advantage if they can't control it outright. Both parties offer a boogeyman to blame for our problems; for the left it's typically "the 1%", climate change, or whatnot, and for the right its a similar hodgepodge of terrorists, future budget constraints due to overspending, etc.

If you want real signs of a "coup," then look for things like purges of top military officials, widespread dismissal of non-political (career) appointees at agencies which could limit or slow the exercise of government power, or calls for novel changes to the Constitution (something like the Balanced Budget Amendment doesn't count, repealing the 22nd Amendment would). Things like Trump wanting a parade or "living in a shithole" are just self-flattery for a narcissist but won't be bringing on Emperor Trump. He'll lose the next election soon enough and will slink off to obscurity soon as someone else pointed out he doesn't have the widespread support to remain in power unlawfully. He'll just be an idiot and waste four years of the country's time and a lot of its money on his vanity project of being POTUS.

I'm not talking about a coup. I respoded directly to your claim that "there is no evidence that Trump is an authoritarian." That's what I am responding to. Please now reconsider from that argument. I think you are confusing "evidence of a thing" with "incontrovertible proof of a thing." ...you did say that making that claim would be more accurate, so it seems that we agree. I am responding to your claim that there isn't (yet) evidence of that being in effect. I say that this evidence has been in place within minutes of him descending his golden escalator, and promptly making a direct target of our neighbors to the south "taking our jobs, raping us, mooching our wealth, etc." It's straight from the fascist playbook that was ever so popular from the 1910s through the 1930s (even with our own home-grown fascistas of the time. You do know that "America First!" is the actual slogan of our ~1920s fascist party, led by good ol Lindburg, right?)


I agree with you and HR that this isn't a "coup" because it simply isn't the proper application of the term (...however, "coup" is often used to describe any type of insurrection that invades and replaces the incumbent group, ideals, population...whatever. I think it is proper and obvious to label "Trumpism" as a coup of the Republican party)

...and this isn't about news cycles or media perspective. This is about me and my eyes, and my ears; and I'm not the only one. You have to be fucking blind and unread to not see the obvious parallels between Trump's imagery and messaging and the famous despots of our past and present. Seriously goddamn blind.

Not a coup. But definitely some forced self-reflection. Trump is making the American people re-evaluate their dedication to the proposition that all persons are created equal. Because he and his supporters are definitely against that.

The true sadness here is you can't tell today's news is about Russian attempts at corruption and that those attempts did not result in a quid pro quo. Point in fact, as no evidence of any quid pro quo could be found, by the FBI, CIA AND Justice Dept, the entire investigation turned to focus on the Russian attempts to corrupt.

Trump isn't all bad. He has offered hope to millions of Americans who were previously suffering too much shame to express what is worst in our natures. He has shown them the thrill of delight one can have exhibiting all of the feelings we usually suppress because they show us to be worthless pieces of shit. He has created a religious revival tent where we can worship the orange calf and his beautiful if small cloven hooves.
