I do agree, but most neighborhoods are like this. My parents have a 1977 ranch home, and at first glance it looks like it's different from all the others. When you look closely though, there are three nearby houses with only slightly modified interior plans and a different roof, but they're essentially identical.

And hey, it's better than being in an apartment

update: we're going to try to negotiate with the builders/agents to have my father-in-law do the phone wiring and boxes. They shouldn't have a problem since it's our money and our house, but we'll see!
