IMO: Non-traditional families (single-parent familes, families where children are raised by grandparents and not by biological parents, and homosexual parents) are a new thing, types of families that haven't been socially acceptable until recently...like within the past 50 years or so. I just think it's too new to determine what the long-term psychological effects on children/society are.

I think there's a reason the foundation of the world was built on families comprised of one man and one woman that lived together for the long term.

Are you kidding - do you think that before 50 years ago everyone lived in nice little male and female units, and that nobody ever raised a child by themselves, people never got separated, grandparents never raised their grandchildren, etc, etc ,etc?

Sure it happened but it wasn't nearly as acceptable by society! I'm talking about the grand scale.

This grand scale is one big assumption on your part.

Come on! You're telling me, prior to 50 years ago, it was acceptable by western society, for moms to raise their kids alone or for homosexuals to marry and adopt or have kids of their own?

All I am saying is this is new, unproven territory for society, and it's unknown as to how it will all play out.

We are doomed...the race is run and we lost to ourselves. 🙁 I hope I'm gone before the next Big Bang.

This post demonstrates egocentrism and a lack of historical perspective.

Cheers

If the current state of affairs bothers you, it would only do you harm to read history... I can tell you sh!t hasn't changed in over 2000 years... it's sad, yet comforting...

Yeah, until very recently, that was the only way to ensure another generation.

50 years ago, in 1954, I'm sure there was such a thing as single moms.

Now, since when does it matter what was acceptable 50 years ago anyways?

People like you saw to it that 50 years ago blacks and whites had to go to seperate schools.

I'm calling you a bigot.

A bigot is a bigot, no matter the target.

You have something against gays.

50 years ago people like you had something against blacks.

I think you're being a tad aggressive. GTAudiophile isn't against gay rights, he's for common sense. That's what I gathered from his posts.

And you think it'll play out with gay couples adopting little boys for deviant purposes? I'm sure people thought the same about interracial marriage (that it would distroy the concept of marriage, and ruin the lives of the children) - yet, they have proven that those fears were unfounded. What do you base your fears of homosexual adoption on?

You have something against gays nor black, but I do love and support Alan Keyes and Condi Rice.

50 years ago people like you had something against blacks.

Wow, awefully judgemental and hostile for a liberal!

I have absolutely nothing against gays!

The health of society boils down to the health of the family structure. We are seeing new structures that will influence society in ways never seen before. That is my only point.

Dead babies are good for the environment, and help retard global warming.
