Well last night i updated my eVGA 6600gt's driver and now im getting a 3dmark05 score of 1000 points less. What could be causeing this? Should i change back to the prevous driver? Thanks
 
must be due to bad spelling.

Now then... lets think for a second. (I know it sounds crazy to be thinking at a time like this)

Your new drivers degrade performance.

Your old drivers get better performance than your new drivers.

You upgraded to the new drivers to increase performance, when it in fact lowered performance.

Reason for keeping the new drivers is _________?

a) I like my system to run slower so I can keep up
b) I don't know how to revert to the older (higher performance) drivers
c) I'm stupid
 
I'd check out performance where it counts first. Like in the games you play. Then decide whether to keep the new drivers or not. Who cares what you scores are in a benchmark, all that counts is when your playing a game.
 
Perhaps your new driver has different default settings (or you tempered with it) and the AA and AF are now forced, so you may want to check it in display settings. The first time I measured the performance of my GTX I nearly got a heart attack when it underperformed hugely compared to my previous x800xt. Ofc I forgot that I set the AA and AF to fixed.

What? lol... Where is this setting? Desktop Manager? lol i doubt ive changed it only thing ive done is change some stuff in color correction.
 
Display properties / Settings / Advanced / GeForce xyz TAB / Performance & Quality Settings

Here set "Global Driver Settings"

I know, it may sounds crazy as this option looks quite hidden however - if I'm not seriously mistaken - you can also change it through the systray icon in the lower right corner of your desktop (I never use it) much more easily and perhaps even without noticing it if you are browsing through the appearing menus.
 
Its allredy set to Global Driver Settings.... I played Half Life 2 some to see if i could tell any diffrentce and couldent rilly tell any diffrentce.
 
OK this sux... I whent back to the previous driver and my 3dmark score is still way less... It was about 3600 now its at about 2500 >:-(
 
Well tell me what the "proper" way to install them and il let you know if i do or not, lol

Anyway there might not be a prob after all, When i was getting 2500 it was on 1290x1024 whitch is what i have it set at for the desktop, now if i have 3dmark on 1024x768 im back to about 3500ish so im thinking i just might not have set it to 1290x1024 when i got 3500, So my question is what res do you guys run your games on? and is 3500+ good for 1024x768? Thanks
 
The big question is, when did you last run 3d mark? If you ran it a long time ago, then obviously you can't compare the before and after on the drivers.

Did you run 3D Mark, install the new drivers, then run 3D Mark again to see the difference?

If the last time you ran 3d mark was 5 months ago and you're score was better, than you have to see what apps and hardware you may have installed that could be hindering the performance. You have to compare apples to apples to see if the driver change is what is really causing the performance difference.
 
I ran it before driver switch and after. When i ran it before it was only about 3 or 4 hrs before and after the switch i ran it the next moring. And now i switched back and ran it.

Im thinkin the 1000 point loss was just in the diffrent res, But im not sure and just about every 3dmark score i see the people dont say what res there on. So i just want to know if 3500ish is good for 1024x768
