nice pics. I also recommend going there around winter time. Absolutely gorgeous, the waterfalls are in full effect, and it's not as muggy/hazy.... plus some pretty nice snowboarding nearby :)

does look crisper and better - what i posted were just raw pics - untouched.

Right, I understand. It seems like a cloudy layer has been lifted off of the picture.

you know thats actual smoke. the fire dept had set controlled fires. there were signs on the road saying "controlled fires by the FD - do not report" - they even had two of those choppers carrying water - was quite an interesting scene

Really?

This is the truth. Just a few weeks ago the smoke was so bad many of the majestic views were obscured. Nuts for the people that drove thousands of miles to visit the park then.

Awesome pics. I love the scenery out west, pretty blah here in Florida. Thanks for sharing the beauty =)

Anyone see the "fire falls" they used to do at Yosemite? They pushed burning logs and debris over the waterfalls. It looked like lava! This was of course banned eventually, but if anyone has pictures of that...well that'd rule.

Those pictures you took are beautiful. I haven't been to Yosemite in a few years now but seeing those makes me want to go back. The shot of the valley with Half Dome to the right is gorgeous.

/emote is envious.

I'll have to disagree. I've been both places and there is really no comparison to Yosemite. It is on a totally different scale from any place I've seen in the Appalachian Mountains. The only place that is even remotely close is Chimney Rock in Asheville, NC. And even then there is still no real comparison. The mountains in Yosemite are 2 to 3 times higher than those in the Appalachians.
