Cuz critics are retarded. No longer can movies be "just funny." The acting has to be flawless, the story has to be 100% original, and it has to have some sort of social message or comment on the social state of society.

I for one will TAKE your reccomendation and see the movie. Been a while since I've seen a good comedy.

Critics usualy dont like movies unless its artsy fartsy or they are being paid to like it.

Critics suck. I recently saw "Birthday Girl", I'd never heard of it before but my girlfriend assured me it got GREAT reviews. It was the worst movie I've ever seen. Critics suck, I ususally take the opposite of their opinion as true.

The story doesn't have to be original for you? HUH?! You don't care if a movie you see is a carbon copy of something you've already seen before? I'd love to see I-SPY, but I've already seen plenty of Eddie Murphy movies and Owen Wilson movies where they play the exact same character... and that's the main criticism of the movie. It's nothing new, so why should I waste my money and time on it? People don't have to go to a movie because it's the only thing playing.

In conclusion, I'm still very pissed off that just about nobody in the general population of America has seen, let alone HEARD OF, Spirited Away. :|

Well, your opinion is okay then, because you at least know about Miyazaki! ;) I want to see Totoro pretty bad, but I'm waiting for it to come out on DVD. I still have yet to see Porco Russo, Nausicaä, Castle in the Sky, and other such movies, only because I can't find them... :(

Spirited away was really good.... I'd say as good as "My Neighbour Totoro"... unfortunately though... the american public has not yet warmed up to Anime.... I grew up with Anime on French Public TV... sadly though about 5-6 years ago the gov. got scared and axed it... I think they were worried that my generation has had too much japanese influence... ha... too late I say.. ;)

I saw Secretary last week. A girl asked me to watch it with her and it turns out that she is attracted to that kind of stuff.
:Q :Q Whoa! :Q :Q

Can you tell me - does James Spader actually look for nothing but these roles?
I used to think he was a great actor to fit in all those quirky roles. Now, I don't think he is acting. He must be that weird!

Secretary Movie Poster Assume the position!

eh, no matter what the animation wasn't up to american expectation. the cg didn't mesh, very bad:p sometimes kinda jerky too. then again out of miyazakis stuff i've only seen this and mononoke in a theater. might be more obvious there i guess. kinda wish they had better animation budgets in japan. yea i've seen castle in the sky/porco/grave of fireflies.

Yeah... but there is so much more to Anime.... and I agree that the japanese animators do not have the kind of capital like for toy story and the likes.... but there is very little cg and a lot of real work behind the movies... Totoro for example has the most stunning visuals I have seen...
MaxDepth> that looks like an *ahem* interesting movie... :Q
