yes, for some reason canada has the best chinese food. I don't get it.

Its on par with china and without the hepatitis risk.

let think it this way. A lot of immigrates in canada are from HK. they are rich. make a trip to toronto chinatown, you will see more acura's and lexus than any cities in the US. then, rich people eat good foods. 😀

Just curious, why do you feel the need to include the fact that the bride makes over 6 figures and lives in NYC? Or that the groom went to Cornell?

Is that bit of useless trivia meant to impress us? 😕

Asian weddings are where the food is at... we had 10-courses. 2 weeks later we went to another American wedding... I had a slab of chicken. 🙁 What's up with that ???

W😀W big $bucks$ Wedding

erm..are u chinese?...coz, no offence, that wedding is NOT big bucks. In fact, i wanna bet they hardly lost or maybe even made money with that course, after tallying all the red packets.
No that wedding is definitely not big bucks especially if the dad owned the restaurant. 😉 We had 24 tables and at $560 per table for food, that gets costly. If the food there is practically paid at-cost by the owner... it's not much in comparison. And it is true about each person giving avg of $50-$100 each in return... that makes up for a ton of it so it's not a huge deal. They definitely made money back.

About the food quality - the concern for a sizeable banquet dinner was finding a place that would fit the number of tables we had, so the food quality was only a secondary concern. Sizes of each dish were also not a huge concern. I wouldn't compare that to the asian dinners people have once or twice a month... not the same intentions.

Yes, they are rich but you know they are the type who like to show it off in material things. 🙂 There's plenty of rich people in the US who don't show it.

Wow, lots of comments from you Chinese snobs!

Look at it this way, I've never been to a wedding like this. so to me this is special.

hey, just letting u know u ain't getting the genuine article, thats all. And maybe they did factor in the fact that they are catering to 'westerners' so this will do...Wouldn't u rather know the real deal than thinking u got great smack? Plus, since u mentioned they are blah-blah, make this, graduated that...well then, the banquet certainly didn't show it.

not to be an ass or anything, but the portions look so tiny, and they could at least serve the foods in nicer plates!

edit: yeah and the foods they served are like regular everyday chinese dine-out meals, hmmm...I am not impressed, I'd be ashamed if I served those foods at my wedding. Just telling it like it is, nothing personal.
