WENT THROUGH MY TRASH?!

dammit..i have a $25 award cert that i'm saving to use on a digicam at staples. Since i wrote down the cert# already, i threw away the physical coupon. That was a week ago. Today when i tried the code, it says its been USED! Promptly called staples to check it out and they tell me "Miss SP" used it.
:|

Miss SP lives in the same building as me. wtf..how the hell did she get my cert# unless she went through my trash? Or maybe the coupon was sitting on top of the trash pile? But i put all my trash in plastic bags. This sux big time...should i have a talk with her?...damn i was gonna get a digicam for my dad.

i know, i know, since i did actually throw it out...ur gonna say finders keepers right? but damn...going through my trash?! :|
Is nothing sacred anymore?!

I wrote down my bank account number, so I threw my checkbook in the trash. And then someone was using my checks! OMG, how could this happen!

Come on I'm sure you can see how this is not nearly the same thing as that. The point remains thought that she was looking through your trash, definately confront her about it.

yeah dont be an ass...you threw it away...your loss was her gain. I'd glady dig through trash if i saw a $25 coupon just sitting there and thoguht i might use it on something.

Its like seeing a $20 bill laying in the trash...would you really just leave it there?

EDIT : This is all being said if its all in a community dumpster. If its like your personal trashcans then thats a whole diff story, but from how it sounds, all ur stuff goes in the same bin...

Tell her nicely that is was your coupon, you wrote down the code, and trashed the paper. Tell her not to go through your trash anymore. That's rude, and disgusting. Tell her you are going to start sticking infected needles in your trashbags to keep her dumpster diving ass out of it.

If she gives your any sh!t...

Push her out the window.

Amen. You threw it away. It's hers for the taking.

Right on.

I shred just about anything with my name on it and, if I did your little trick of writing down a cert. number, I'd shred the original too. Crazy these days to do otherwise.

While I think rummaging through trash is abit odd, you made the mistake of throwing it away. Quit groveling over the $25 and get over it.

This is definitely an odd circumstance. It isn't illegal to go through someone else's trash. And, you don't need the actual physical coupon to use it at Staples. It looks like you cannot really blame her this time for using the code. Next time, keep the physical coupon around.

Also, I would confront her about going through your trash. I wouldn't want my neighbors doing it and I would let them know that it would make me feel uncomfortable. Usually, I equate the people that have garbage shredders as paranoid - but if I saw evidence of people looking through my trash, then I would have to get one.

You could always offer to just hand all your junk mail and non-used coupons to her.

exactly, why did you write down the code on another paper, when you already had the original coupon code.
