Went from Athlon 1800+ to 2600+, and 3Dmarks went DOWN - Why???

Are you SURE that your processor is running with a 333MHz bus speed? If your processor was running a 266 (instead of 333) that could easily account for the benchmarking differences.

yes, it WAS running at 266 when I installed it (and the computer said it was a 2000+ because that's what speed it was running at), but then I changed it to 333 like it's supposed to be, and it says it's running at 2600+ speed in a cpu identity program I installed (as well as everything else that tells the cpu speed).

What was your score b4?

Are you running your ram insynch with the processor? If not, set it at 333mhz and see if there is an improvement.

Its been awhile since I though much about Athlon XP's, but this is the most likely culprit ... you would actually get better benchmark results running the fsb & RAM synchronized at 266mhz, at least I did when I had a system based on a Via KT333 chipset... I had a multiplier unlocked cpu though & was able to run stable with a 333mhz fsb.

yeah ram is in sync, I checked.

the score before was around 50 points higher (all strictly related to the CPU score).

OK, it's insynch.

Hmmm... Might try some other benchies to see what the prob is. Maybe some ram and CPU benchies.

No driver for CPU, but there will be a mem controller driver. Did you install all your mobo drivers? I'm guessing you've got the same gfx card driver as before.
