Will let you know how it turns out.
Based on the reviews its not a game that modern audiences are in to anymore.
My deluxe box edition has been despatched so should be here tomorrow or Monday,I let you know what I think of the game since I've played MM6,7,8,9 and have some great memories especially for 6 and 7.
Played a little last night, enough that one of my characters got poisoned by a stupid spider. Does the poison go away eventually or do I need to keep chugging health potions until I can find/buy a poison cure potion?
Also, doesn't seem to be any music or environmental sounds when roaming around. Is that just me or everyone else experiencing that?
Earth - It's a must have. It starts out the game with regeneration which is the best heal early on. Get cure poison too, will save a ton on antidotes.

I'm about 10 hours into the game and have mixed feelings. It could be a lot better. The graphics are fine but there are some real issues with the world layout (progression as you level) and annoyings bugs (no way to end combat even if the enemy can't reach you and no way to run away once combat has 'started'). They mentioned that sometime in the next 3 to 6 weeks they plan on a major patch so if the can fix the most glaring gameplay issues it will be a lot better (not sure they can do much about the world layout at this time).
8 gig update this morning. Either that or Ubisoft is redownloading the whole friggin game again.
My deluxe box arrived this morning, opened it up and it all seems to be there, now do I wait for the next patch or get playing later at some point.
Also does the patch effect save files?
This game seems a lot longer than I thought. I expected it would be ~20 hours but it seems more like 40.
I restarted my game since I went with a more magic group ie Crusader,Druid,RunePriest,Shaman which seems easier with this build so far, as long as you keep an eye on mana usage.
I did notice a cyclops cave near start town but have a feeling that's for higher levels right?
I'm loving the game so far, but I don't feel like I'm that far into it (just made it to Karthal) after spending quite a bit of time on it. I see a lot of the same scenery, though, because there is a lot of backtracking. As you start to make some progress, it becomes clear that unless you take the proper path, you will run into enemies that are too powerful to defeat. This can get frustrating as you explore all the different paths out there only to find that 1 out of 20 will work.
I'm running blademaster/crusader/freemage/shaman and finding it to be a good mix of melee and spells. I tried with only one mage earlier and it felt squishy. 3 mages felt like too many, but it seems like it could work if you are stingy with potions and rest a lot. The crusader gives you light magic but still feels like melee.

The one thing that is really aggravating me is the limit on camp supplies. It's just not enough, so I have to go back and forth between the town and my current quest. Also, can stand that any item with buffs must be identified before being used. Means I can't instantly take advantage of some of the loot I find. I need to go back to town and pay to have the item identified (I don't have a spell yet).
What do you consider limit on camp supplies ? You know that there is a place near the start of the game that gives you 9; and later on it will grow to 12 and then 18.
Also identify spell is not too high a level so perhaps that issue will resolve itself ?
