Welp, I took the Northwood plunge today :)

After seeing so many successful overclocks, many as high as 2500 mhz, I just couldn't resist! These forums love to burn a hole in my pocket 🙂

I just ordered today, and hope what I ordered is pretty decent.

So far:

1.6A Retail P4
ASUS P4B266-C
256MB Crucial PC-2100 DDR
Western Digital 100GB Special Edition HDD w/ 8MB cache
High Power 400W PSU

Cant wait to get this up fri/sat and see what it can do 😛

I just ordered most of my new setup today also. I got the P4 1.6a Retail, AVC Sunflower HS, Chieftec 420 Watt Server Tower Case (Charcoal Black), 4 80mm Delta Fans for the Case, GF4 Ti4400, Asus P4B266 Retail. I already have all the other goodies in my current system that I plan to transfer over. Hopefully I will recieve my GF4 before all the other parts so I can really start out good.

I did the same thing...Asus P4B266-C, P4 1.8A, Crucial DDR, and G4Ti4400. After weeks of reading about all these overclocks I couldnt resist. Well actually, what started it all was the hot deal on the G4 card and it kinda snowballed from there.

Good luck on the system...hope you get 2.6ghz!!!!!

However I wish to state one thing and that is these i845 mobos offer low memory ratios at higher fsb and means your memory bandwidth will be lower then compared to sis chipset and i850 chipset...You will get raw power but will lack the memory bandwidth to drive the p4 in programs...Read tomshardware articles....sis chipsets offer 4:5 ratio and 333mhz ddr support above 133 and since you will likely hit 145-150 on that chip you will get 290mhz ddr and mem scores of like 2250's (about 10-15% below i850 platform) while you could have gotten 375mhz ddr and 2750's (higher then rdram i850 platform)...however I will note if you oc'd a rdram platform the lead over the i845 would start to be huge while just a modest lead over the sis chipset....the comparsions above would only be to non oc'd like p4 speed systems.

I do like the hardware acceleration for ata devices that the intel chipset has, but I think it pales in comparison to the memory bandwidth difference and we all know the p4 thrives on bandwidth...

I switched to the sis645 chipset my self for that reason...
