yea, I know it is a little old to mention now, but I just thought of this now. And their plan on marketing. It is smart I give them that, but it rather is unfair to their customers in a short peroid of time. Now I am unbias towards both brands so don't say I am a fanboy. lol
So some history and wrap up. This is all from my mind and remembering 7800GT specs. So bare with me if it is off a little. Also some 7900GT specs, I gathered recently.
So the 7800GT's come out August 13th(I think) Aprox 6-1/2 months ago. Great line of cards decent price compared to the 78GTX and a lot of quick brand support.
Now 6 months come by and The 7800gt's are discontinued by Nvidia stops production and the New G71, 7900GTs come out with...

7900GT's come out with(Depending on the brand)
1. A 300mhz memory clock,
2. 4 extra pipes,
3. Probably Better faster Ram speed, ns.
4. Cheaper price, about $75 dollars less from the highest end 7800gt's to highest standard 7900GT so far.
5.About 25mhz more on the core (again depending on the brand).
6.Average 7800GT in mark05 got high 76xx scores stock.
7.7900GT's gets high 78xx stock on Mark05. (Pretty much GTX scores)
8.Now I suppose the 7800GTX users got hit a bit harder than the GT owners cause the 7900GT is pretty much a 7800GTX and paid almost twice the price.
9.New core G71 vs. G70, I don't know if the G71 has a new manufacture process or not.
10.most likey better Heatsinks and some made out of copper.

Now with all that said, Does it make you want a 7900GT more? I mean wow, Just look at what you get compared. I am still keeping my 7800GT cause it is still a great card and can max out most games(besides fear) with my system and I will not be getting a new card until the DX10's come out.
