One of the recurring themes that I've observed with Trumpism is that any "they" is monolithic. So the Trumpers can believe that Trump is working for "us" and against "them." The reality, that the corporate/political interests he refers to are actually diverse and in continually in conflict with each other, that the rich and elite quarrel just as much as the rest of us, and that Trump in fact represents a coalition of those corporate/political interests (and of course the Democrats are a different coalition) just doesn't quite compute.
Trump has played the populist con down to its basest level: us and them.

One of the few people that actually gets it.

Also very well said. Most of his base is the uneducated unskilled lazy white murica that blames their lack of ability to find a job on brown people rather than their own lack of skills and motivation. Totally opposite of conservatism.
