I'm at work and a fellow male employee that sits in a cubicle across from me walked in blubbering and sobbing all over the place. He's also of the "male-liking" persuasion.

I'm dying to know what's going on, but I also don't want to be the "Oh...what's wrong, you can cry on my shoulder" guy.

So, for now, he's still just sitting there crying and I'm making unnecessary phone calls to look like I'm too busy to talk.

Well that's just sad. Put your gaydar down and go ask him what is the matter. Poor guy. :(

You could offer to get him some water or something.

He could be blubbering for some non-gay reason. Then how would you feel?

But seriously, just ask him what's going on. It's not like he's going to assume you're gay, and plus, he'll probably really appreciate it!

Why do people feel the need to get involved in the personal lives of people they work with?

Fuck that!

Just do your job and stay away from the drama queen.

I've done that before, and became the office psychiatrist. I hate people as it is, much less having them dump their problems on me. No thanks.

I'v been too soft :( Be careful, sometimes you are concerned about someone else and then you find yourself roped into their life and looking after someone else's children...

QFT. People who bring their feelings to work are just asking to have them tromped on...
Yes, we all have our days...but no one else wants to hear about them or really gives a shit...and you're not getting paid to sit there and blubber...GET TO WORK!

You could pretend you haven't heard him yet, then go to his cube to ask him some work related question, see him crying, then go "whoa, are you ok?" Then it's like a spur of the moment thing.

that's too bad. i guess i have more compassion than some of you guys.

as far as becoming the office psychiatrist, you have to have the balls to back out after you've made sure the person is ok. just tell him/her you have enough of your own problems and can't take on anyone elses.

Our HR director walked by and heard him (luckily), so she took the bullet.

It turns out his grandmother passed away while he was coming to work this morning. Poor guy. He ended up going home.

So, reel them in, and when they start unloading, tell them to get lost.

You're such a tease!

You kidding? You want a sexual harassment suit started or something???

It is bad enough I can sit in my office and hear the fat women going on and on about whatever the hell tragedy is currently going on in their lives. No way in hell would I ever get involved by asking them if they are ok. Luckily I can close my door and drown them out....most of the time. It is amazing the sounds that can come out of a 350lb woman and the way it can pierce walls. Thankfully Bobby Don is going to truck "drivin" school now so he will have a good job to support his "young uns"

no... not like that. i have to listen to people *a lot* during the day. there are ways to not have your ear talked off. there are ways to nip conversations, that you don't want to go there, in the bud.

oh hell, now that sounds like torture.

but if your office Mimi was genuinely crying you'd just walk by and ignore her?

After my father died my boss gave me a hug. There was nothing sexual about it.

Yes....and that isn't just in theory.

I've told people, not just the fat women, that are blubbering on and on about whatever crisis they are currently having that if they can't shut the hell up about it then they need to take PTO and go home so they don't keep everyone else from working.

being you're a married guy and a dad i know you're really not that mean. ;)

I wasn't talking about them blubbering-gossiping, I was talking about them crying-shedding tears.
