Video is amazing.

Song sucks.

Product Placement was over the top.

Back in the 80's and early 90's Videos were all the rage and these epics were appreciated for their directing.

Gaga has become the next GNR or MJ with these epic videos.

If we have any metal fans in here, the director of this video is the same Jonas Akerlund that played drums in Bathory from '83-84. Weird D:

Kind of warming upto Gaga. I used to be a hater. And she is working out. Her body is looking pretty tight in this video.

Even though her music is annoyingly catchy, she has talent. There was some thread here that had a couple videos before she got famous. In the music industry, you need more than just talent and she knows that. I'm not going to listen to her music, but I can admit she has talent.

Agreed. I'm old enough to remember when Madonna started and she had nowhere near the talent that Lady Gaga has. However, I think this song is nowhere near the level of her previous stuff. The video tries too hard and imo doesn't succeed. Bad Romance, now that was a music video. Also, her 2009 VMA performance is legendary.

Absolutely, Bad Romance is an incredible video. This one is not great.

....can anyone explain to me what just happened in this vide? Weird. This is one of her better songs though. A little known fact is that Lady Gaga actually wrote songs for other pop stars before breaking out on her own - according to Wikipedia, she wrote this song for an earlier Britney Spears album, but it didn't make the cut, so she decided to do it with Beyonce on her own album.

....and I'm curious as to how much Virgin Mobile and Plenty O Fish paid for those spots.

No clue what happened in the video, she is definitely a talented writer.

Pop music is not about providing a rich tapestry of musical depth. It's about a catchy beat, image, and buzz. She's got all of that in spades, and she's the best thing to come to the genre in a long time.

Truth.

Heck yeah, her body is nice. The stuff she wears is too crazy for me sometimes.

Think I know why there are cigarettes on the glasses. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, the designer for most of the outfits in the video is French and sunglasses in French are called verres fumés. Gaga has a bit of a French haute couture fetish, just like Dita von Teese.

RE: Madonna vs Lady Ga Ga

In the 80's Madonna was certainly a Super Star that exploded on the music scene like Lady Ga Ga is now. Pretty much for the same reason, she was Sexy, had great Dance Numbers, and high Production Values. Most of all, she was a Liberated Woman which was an issue that still was very controversial. In many ways, without Madonna there would be no Lady Ga Ga, as Madonna was a Pioneer that paved the way for a Lady Ga Ga to come after.

That said, side by side Lady Ga Ga is certainly far more Talented in every way you can measure it. Lady Ga Ga Sings better, Dances better, and has much better Produced Videos. It's very hard to deny this. It will be interesting to see if Lady Ga Ga has the same staying power or if she burns out as fast as she's risen to the top.

I haven't listened to a full Album of Lady Ga Ga, so I'm not sure how consistent she is. I only ever bought 1 Album of Madonna's music and it was a big disappointment. I don't recall which one it was, but I bought it because the 3 Songs from it to be released on Video were great Songs. After buying the Album I soon discovered that the other 7(ish) Songs were utter crap and actually embarrassing to listen to they were so bad. Even if you watch Madonna videos where she is involved in Dance numbers you can see that she really was in over her head. Lady Ga Ga is the total opposite from what I have seen. It's like she was raised by a Pack of Performance Artists who dedicated their lives to making the Uber Artist.

Wow I'm french and I never knew that. I always called them lunettes de soleil. Guess that's another word for them.

Neat video and and I like the various homages/references made to kill bill, thema & lousie, and other films

only thing I didn't like was that it had very little to do with the actual song. The basic theme of telephone is the singer is too busy getting her dance on to talk to her boyfriend. This theme was barely touched on it the video. too straightforward I guess *shrug*

Wow I think the video has some amazing artistic direction if that was what Ga Ga was going for. Pretty blown away.
