Well, the new Lady Gaga video leaves me...

....can anyone explain to me what just happened in this vide? Weird. This is one of her better songs though. A little known fact is that Lady Gaga actually wrote songs for other pop stars before breaking out on her own - according to Wikipedia, she wrote this song for an earlier Britney Spears album, but it didn't make the cut, so she decided to do it with Beyonce on her own album.

....and I'm curious as to how much Virgin Mobile and Plenty O Fish paid for those spots.

This couldn't be more wrong. Go back and listen to Material Girl. That song is shitty. Ray of Light - Shitty. LGG is 10 times the artist that Madonna was.

I hate pop music for the most part, but Lady Gaga is awesome, people need to learn to make distinctions. I'm seriously considering buying her CD at this point.

If you're looking for an 80s musical analogy, Michael Jackson is a bit better, as both he and Gaga are very talented musicians, whether you like their style of music or not.

However, the Madonna analogy is apt in that they both were VERY good at marketing themselves.

considering that music videos aren't played on tv anymore, I'd guess they needed the sponsorship to pay for the video.

I think it's supposed to be a sequel to her Paparazzi video, in which she killed her husband or something (idk, I haven't seen it in like 6 months)

Official music videos actually pay the record company per view on Youtube...and considering the insane amount of views her videos get, I'm sure that helps cover the costs.

My opinion though is she has done absolutely nothing for the pop music scene.

Pop music is not about providing a rich tapestry of musical depth. It's about a catchy beat, image, and buzz. She's got all of that in spades, and she's the best thing to come to the genre in a long time.

Agreed. I'm old enough to remember when Madonna started and she had nowhere near the talent that Lady Gaga has. However, I think this song is nowhere near the level of her previous stuff. The video tries too hard and imo doesn't succeed. Bad Romance, now that was a music video. Also, her 2009 VMA performance is legendary.

I haven't seen this video yet; it's a shame if it' not up to the level of her other stuff, which is amazing.

Agreed. Although from a purely musical perspective, I think she is better than MJ too. MJ was perhaps the greatest dancer and showman of all time, but his songs were still good. I just think LGG's songs are a little better.

I've had this god damn POS song stuck in my head all morning thanks to this thread.

AHHHH!!! KILL ME NOW!!!

I have to admit that her shit is pretty catchy.

You really believe she is more talented than MJ, songwise? Really?
