Yeild area merging onto a highway. First guys is about to go, then brakes, second guy brakes, and my brakes were no match.

My puny 95 escort went under and suv and pushed the suv into a pickup

Total loss on the car (collision was not worth it on such an old hunk of junk)

What really irks me is I was cited for reckless driving. Officer said he will drop it to improper no doubt, but still had to charge me with something and that was it; getting charged like that after losing so much sucks:(

the car I hit

what's left of the ole' gal:(

Sad to say it, but if you hit someone stopped from behind it's all yours...

Losing a '95 Escort shouldn't be too painful though, I hope you find something nicer.

Since no injuries are mentioned, I assume you and the others involved were not injured. That's something to be thankful for.

Good luck!

I can see how you got charged. You failed to control your vehicle. You should have kept a distance so you were able to stop in time.

I am not saying anything bad about you or your driving...but that is how it usually works.

Reckless driving seems excessive for that kind of accident.

Agreed.

I guess the ticket is what is really messing with me. I've had to fight reckless off twice before due to incompetent drivers and this time, since it's my fault, I feel like crap.

Improper is still like 2 points:(

It must have been the OP's. That's the whole point of braking and driving distances between cars.

I had the same happen to my car when some bloke driving a van was talking on his mobile phone, I broke at a red light as you do, it wasn?t particularly hard but he couldn't stop in time due to how close he was driving to my car and hit me

My car was pretty much brand new (3 months old), so when I got out of the car to have a look at the damage I had a little fit at the same time.

The van driver tried to say that I broke to hard :disgust:. I made it quite clear that he shouldn?t have been so close to my car, I was so pissed I could have hit him.

what exactlly happened, foot slip off the break? did the crv(probably a chick) slam her breaks causing you to hit her? honestly id charge the person in front because they should be accelerating to get onto the freeway not breaking and starting from 0-65 or whatever the speed limit was. its just stupid to stop on a yield lane and any drivers ed instructor will agree.

they key is it's a sort-of-downhill-merge and I got merge-fvked if you know what I mean.

It's really excessive, and even though it will turn into improper i'm still really bummed out:(
