Well, that's about the last thing... I'll take DUAL-everything

Albatron PX975X, supports dual power supplies

Not that dual power supplies are new, but for the consume/enthusiast market its pretty new

So, now we have Dual-Core, Dual-Video, Dual-channel Memory, RAID, and now dual power supplies... basically 2xeverything except the case...

Not a complaint... just a comment on the direction of the computer industry...

First dual +12V rails and now dual PSUs? I know Thermaltake came out with their dedicated video card PSU for SLi systems but sheesh...dual PSU for one mobo? OMG.

My dad has a similar setup, though jury-rigged. He has 12-13(!) hard drives in his Linux server box. (He is averse to throwing out the old drives, so a bunch of them are 50-60GB drives, with an 8 and 10GB thrown in for nastalgia). So he uses two PSUs, one for the drives, one for everything else. Personally, I am all about mass storage, but prefer using a few large drives when I can. 😉

LOL. I wouldn't mind that mobo. If a single CPU machine could outperform my dual Xeons, I'd be upgrading to something like that. The only problem is that I would have to give up my PCI-X RAID card. So I'd have to take down the arrays, and rebuild them on a PCIe RAID card.
dual PSUs
dual processors
dual 6-channel fan controllers & dual Supermicro 5-in-3 SATA enclosures
and dual 4-bay fan modules. I'm almost there. Just no dual video cards here.

EDIT: Look at it this way--atleast we haven't had people try to overclock their 7200rpm hds to 10k rpm. 😀

Wow, that's so retarded... Who's ever going to need dual PSUs?

In case one was to fail. You could also build it to hot swap them.

People that actually need redundant PSUs probably won't be using an LGA775 board. Probably more along the lines of Xeons and Opterons.

I'm really sorry to do this, but I need to hijack this thread because I am having trouble posting new topics on the main index page.

When I click the new topic icon nothing loads, nothing happens. I also cannot reply normally, I can only quick reply.

I can check my profile settings, log-out and look at the FAQs.

I tried e-mailing the moderators but haven't received an e-mail yet ( they are probably just busy).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Disable the program you are using the block pop-ups. EDIT: Or atleast change the settings to allow pop-ups on this site. Or use firefox.

you can power on one ps at a time with that setup? or is one a backup to the other? Does it cause any balancing load issues if you are powering on 2ps's at seperate times?

I can turn just one PS on. They are setup to be completely seperated. The primary PSU powers the mobo, video card, and primary fan controller. The secondary PSU powers the rest of the fans (10), lights, and hard drives.

Nah thats nothing how about dual optical drives, u have to have them both working at once and insert 2 specialised disks containing half the info on each then they will be used in parralell to delliver utter leet burning and reading performance.

heh while we at it lets make it dual mouse set up where u have a mouse for each hand, and about keyboards, well no problems as we are born with 4 limbs, so guess what its time to learn how to type with ur legs, one keyboard for each.

when are the dual-power-button cases coming out?

I'm waiting for the dual case cases to come out.

They make cube cases that are basically 2x towers stuck together, one side is the mobo half, the other side holds the drives.

I'm waiting to see the applications for dual soundcards....

Yea, I posted my case like that earlier in the thread. Dual soundcards... I think video cards will absorb the function of the soundcard before there will be dual soundcards. 🙂
