at least he was driving the X5 like it was meant to be driven.. unlike half of the soccer moms or family guys I see with them.

4.8IS... mmmmm..

I get to see this type of stuff almost daily. Definatly feels good to watch someone else get pulled over.

As I was driving home early from work today, I was in the left lane of the highway and doing a bit over 75 in a 65 zone. Not zooming, not a snail's pace (for the left lane of a three lane highway with good visibility in light traffic). This is the generally accepted speed for that area of highway, and most of the time the cops dont pull you over unless you are doing 80+. Anyways, this asshat behind me zooms up (obviously doing 85+) in his off-white (or maybe just dirty) BMW X5, yakking on his cell phone, has to slam on the brakes to avoid rear-ending me. Honks at me for it, because obviously I should have merged into the truck next to me to allow him to avoid using his brake pedal. Now, I know that just after the bridge ahead, there is frequently a speed trap right where the road dips down a little while taking a gentle left hand curve. I focus my attention up ahead, and there it is: a little sliver of white with a light bar on top of it, just barely visible over the highway divider (like I said, there is a gentle left turn ahead). So, I continue passing the black Ram on my right, then slip into the center lane and take my foot off the gas. Merging left is something I would have done anyway, it is just common courtesy. However, normally I will double tap my brakes, and thus give a warning to any drivers behind me who are halfway alert. But because of this guy, I just take my foot off the gas and coast. By the time the cop car comes into view, I'm doing about 66. The X5 had immediately floored it after I moved into the center lane, and is doing about 85-90. Busted.

Oh man did I have a sh!t eating grin on my face when I passed him as he was slowing down to pull over. He didnt look too happy. :D

mega pwned...

Wait, he honked at you because you were doing 5mph less than him? I'm an agressive driver (as some of you know) and I get angry at people driving slow, but I don't bother unless there's 15-20 mph difference.

aggressive drivers find their own way around ... getting pissed at people serves no purpose. ;)

That was you? WTF - why didn't you warn me??? That cost me $110. this morning!

J/K good story! :cookie:

God, he would love to get away with mere $110. He's looking at $300+ for sure.

My last ticket probably cost me $1000 when you include insurance surcharges.

Yeah Well he still has the Bmw.,,,and I am sure the ticket aint gonna bust his wallet. So ...

... perhaps he has been inattentive like this in the past and his more than just this one speeding ticket. Then his BMW would look nice parked in his driveway because he has a suspended license.

A mere license suspension is probably *not* going to stop somebody like that.

Nate

It's speeding tickets, you aren't going to hang for that.
But they will stick you in jail if you get enough suspensions.

From the OP:

Though I guess it should have read "merging right" I'll have to edit that.

Just cause a guy drives a nice BMW does not mean he/she has alot of money. I know a lot of people who owns nice cars but can't afford gas, still lives with parents, pay check to pay check.

it's funny how their are pockets and groups of cars on the highway in the States. over in europe, the traffic is a constant flow, and you have to move out of the way if you are going slower than the person behind you.

i once read this article, can't remember where, but it made me realise this difference about the states and europe
