A while back I started a thread about paying off my debts. One of the ideas was to get a part time job to do it. Well a week ago I interviewed with target and got a part time job for 32 hrs/wk. I was supposed to go through my orientation on Saturday at 10am. I get a call about ten minutes ago from some chick at HR telling me that due to the economy, they were gonna have to let me go. BEFORE I EVEN STARTED. How lame. I needed that job too. :|

FUCK OFF TAR-GAY!!!

At least they hired you. I've been trying to get a holiday job... you would not believe how freaking hard it is. I've applied to about 7 different places.... I've only had one interview and even at that, the place never called me back so that's a flop.

same thing happened at our company. One guy was hired and was due to come in, but then we had layoffs and he was laid off... before he came.

Yeah, same to you. It's funny... the shitty economy hasn't really been affecting me in any way... until now. Let's hope things get better soon.

Deliver pizzas.

That's not a bad idea. unfortunately my car isn't in the greatest shape at the moment. i was gonna use the first paycheck to get my car fixed then start paying off credit cards. i found a bright side though, the local in n out burger shop is hiring. guess i'll try to go and flip some burgers.

lol, but I thought Target could do no wrong, per ATOT

Target is a terrible, terrible store. The one near me is nicer than the wal-marts in the ghetto, but the wal marts in good neighborhoods are just as nice as Target and have roughly the same quality merchandise for less money. Every time I've gone to target in the last year, I've gotten slow or incompetent service, the runaround, and found things in completely bizarre places.

So...you're mad that you're no longer a seasonable employee? They probably hired too many, or decided to keep the kids coming in at less of an hourly wage. How can you get mad at them?

Yeah. I live in a nice area and a Walmart is going to open just down the road from me (or was...I dunno if this shit economy is going to change or delay things).

It'll be so much more convenient than running to Target (5 miles away) for those random things you need every now and then...and a good bit cheaper when it comes to groceries.

Don't get fat now. 😉

My old roommate applied to Target (for a higher level position, not sure what exactly). They gave him an over the phone interview, then asked him to come in for a really short and less in depth than the phone interview (he said it was literally like 10 minutes long), and then never contacted him again.

Target here is a little bit nicer than Wal-Mart, but its more expensive and they don't really sell higher quality stuff so I rarely go there. I don't have a problem with them.
