Putting togather a wc system for my over heating p4. I have a question on rad placement, how big of a temp differance between putting rad on intake instead of exhaust? Will there be any differance at all?

Temps now are 52c idle and 72c load.

With wc my idle temps are 40-41c load dual prime 46-48c, I am very happy with load temps! I will post some pics in a while!

*Sound of penalty buzzer goes off* Wrong. Neither will get temps cooler than ambient (unless your'e using chilled water) but a good watercooling system will get you a lot closer than even excellent aircooling. My simple H20 setup dropped temps on my cpu by 10-15C over my XP-120.

Can you clarify what you're asking about rad placement? Intake and exhaust of what?

Not true. Water cooling removed heat substantially better, especially under load.

Example:
Idle for my Opty with heatpipe cooler was 35, load was 55+

Idle for my Opty with Water was 28/30, load was 36/37.

Also, the difference will be several degrees. Basically, however many degrees hotter your case-air is is the difference [it's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the jist.]

isn't that what i said? water cooling still wont get temps cooler than ambient temperature nomatter what, even chilled water will get warm after a while no? and i didn't mention anything with load temps because i've never had hands on exp with water cooling

Ohhh. No, not quite. You said "Good air cooling = Same as water cooling"

Almost all water cooling setups, done right, will vastly outperform air cooling.

Now...those little 1/4"ID tubing kits with a 120x1 radiator? Those perform about as well as air cooling.

Summary: Air is a relatively bad thermal conductor. Water is much more efficient and thus can remove more heat much faster.

I am sure the water will get me a lot closer to ambient temp than I am now! I have a cnps7700-alcu and idle is at or above 55c!

I can put it on the back of my p180 (exhaust) or I can mount it in the case but on a front intake!

i'd prefer external or exhaust setup. you don't want the radiator releasing its heat into your case ...there are things other than the cpu/vid card after all.

Door comes off easily, but still closes nice with the rad.

Dont think pics do it justice, looks a lot better in person. The rad fit like it was made for, didnt even have to screw it down.
