Well, Sprint just lost another customer

I've been semi-happy with sprint/nextel and their service for the past 4 years. I've come to accept certain things about them and was actually happy when I switched to the sprint network from nextel as I got better reception in more areas. However, looking at my bill this month, I noticed something odd...they decided, without asking, to add a "text" plan to my bill for 10.00 a month. I send maybe, 10-15 text messages a month total. Apparently, sprint thought it was a good idea for me to have an entire texting plan that costs 10.00 when, without the plan, i spend at most 3.00 on texts. Goodbye sprint.

Any suggestions AT? I was thinking of the Iphone when the new version comes out.

So THAT'S why their stocks dropped through the floor---they lost a customer!

I will to cancel. Their explanation will not be good enough for me. Any company that decides to anything like that without informing their customer or asking permission does not deserve my business.

and upon cancellation they will offer the most sincere apologies bundled with atleast a $50 credit and a lower monthly bill.

Dude cry more about it. Its not like they took your first-born, dropped it off the empire state building, then set your house on fire. Do like dsity said and call, bitch, and have things work out in your favor. It's the American way.

Or get screwed over by another cell phone company who will do something else behind your back and piss you off even more. Your choice.

You're canceling because of $7, when it's going to cost you ~$150 to cancel? I bet that if you go in to your nearest office, or call the customer service they'll get everything settled, and you can collect your check with $7 smackers.

While I don't think that this type of problem is isolated to sprint. I would think that he could say sprint broke his contract with him because they charged him too much, not what he agreed to. Therefore the contract is void.

I'm sure the CS rep will have some reason or excuse for why the text messaging plan was added-- cell phone carriers don't typically go around and make changes to your service with you asking them to. Maybe in this particular case there was some miscommunication somewhere...

Anyways, I seriously doubt you could void a contract unless you can show Sprint had no reason to add the text messaging plan, and/or they made no attempt to correct it once it was brought to their attention.

Actually, they did the same to me. With Sprint, you could pay extra to get your nights & weekends to start at 7pm instead of the 9pm. They added that to my account so my next bill came out to an extra $10 more. I called them and was nice about. I walked away with the nights & weekends starts at 7pm for free. I guess they looked up the history of all my calls and figured that I would never use my phone that late anyway. Which is true.

I hope you don't actually want coverage when travelling.

If you travel out of your area, it does suck. However, it's a great plan for me since they cover NE Oklahoma, Oklahoma City , the areas in Arkansas my fiancees family lives, and pretty much anywhere else I go. They are constantly expanding their network too. For $40 a month (about $50 after taxes/fees) you get unlimited EVERYTHING (text, long distance any time of day or night, data, minutes). My fiancee switched when she moved to Tulsa and we each pay a quarter of what we used to with Sprint and Cingular. I love it.

Sprint called and asked me if I would take 70$ to extend my contract. Free 70$ to me ( I pay 26.70/mo so this is 2-3 bills covered ).

Even if I decide to cancel within 2 years, that's 70$ off my ETF. Yay.

Phone companies often think they can suck. Sprint is the epitome of that opinion. I was with them for 10 years. Last Oct I called to ask them to drop my phone (since I don't use it) and reduce my wife's plan. We were 5 months away from being out of contract. They stated they couldn't do that without a new 2yr contract with no phone rebates. I explained the math to the guy but he was an idiot. The day our contract was up we canceled it. My wife got a blackberry through AT&T for free with an awesome plan.

Sprint's coverage sucks, their customer service sucks. Their only saving grace is that they have nice internet.

I left Sprint for AT&T, worst decision ever.

I swear I have 10fold the dropped calls now that I had before. I dont know if I have a crappy phone (Samsung Sync), or their service in my area just sucks balls. My contract is up in December, I dont know who to try now...probably back to Sprint.
