We got a postcard in the mail indicating that a convicted sex offender is moving into the neighborhood. It has a mugshot of the bastard and his information.

I'm looking at it, and it says that the 46 year old guy was convicted on 11/9/2000. I'm not sure when the post card was sent though. Well, it also lists the dude's offense. Let me do some copy and paste from the state's website.

Offense Data
Sex Offender Offense
Offense 11990002 Sexual Assualt Child
GOC
Counts
Victim's Sex Female
Victim's Age 14.0
Disposition Date 11/09/2000
Time 10Y
Status PROBATION

I bolded the parts that I found important. Great neighbor, eh?

I dunno...we moved there recently, dropping the average home values, consequently. ;)

I think there are a lot of kids in the area though.

They should horde all people who commit such crimes into one desolated part of the world.

Big fella too...6'3", 300 lbs. I would post a link...but I dunno if that would be a cool thing to do, with respect to the man's privacy.

Post it, He has no privacy, it is public information. Once you are a sex offender, you loose that right.

Post the link.

In my old house, a male who molested young males moved in next door. We didnt even know untill we were moving, his brother informed us. It scared tha hell outta me! The man had just been released from a mental hospital and prison.

It's kind of interesting to look at the files of sex offenders. Sometimes I look at the ones from Ames, just to make sure I don't know any of the people on the website ;)

I agree that these sh*tbags deserve no privacy. People should be warned. Kudos to you, loogie, for posting it.

Last fall, we had a sex offender move into our city, directly across the street from a high school. Fortunately, the city police department notified the schools, who notified the parent groups, who notified the community - we had three meetings about how to handle this situation. His parole officer argued that since the apartment complex across the street from the high school was the only county-subsidized low-income housing project in town, he couldn't live anyplace else.

After the guy had his name and mugshot plastered on every bulletin board and newspaper in town (small town, about 10,000 people), he decided he'd be better off living somewhere else in the state. I feel sorry for whomever he moved next to.

He was a big, scary looking guy - 6'5", 260 according to his license. And his crime? He was convicted of raping two 13 yr. old girls who were friends of his family's. And some brainiac decided he should move next to the high school?!

I know there has to be someplace for these people to go when they come out of prison, but given all the latest studies that say you can't be "cured" of pedophilia or other kinds of aberrant sexual urges, I don't ever want one living within 100 miles of me. And I know we have three living in my community right now.

Scary stuff. Good luck, Loogie - my best advice - don't forget for one second who this guy is, what he looks like and what he did and don't let anyone else either.

I was molested by my next door neighbor when I was 7 and all I can say is the government is on the right track by informing the community he moves to.

In situations like molestation I support taking punishment into your own hands when the government does nothing more than slapping those sick bastards on the wrist. I'm not talking murder, just informing the community when they don't have such programs. Not that giving those pedaphiles a state sponsored beating may not do some good for the victims of such crimes.

I would say more but i'm sure I would get myself banned in a matter of minutes.
