It looks like Weis (THE GREATEST COACH EVER ZOMG LETS GIVE HIM A 10-YEAR EXTENSION!) still isn't going to be able to beat a top-25 team at his coaching tenure...unless Georgia Tech is able to hold on to maybe 24 or 25 in one of the polls.

This is coming from a team with Quinn, Samardzija, McKnight, Walker, and I'm sure a few other NFL prospects. What's wrong, Weiss? 🙂

Oh, and to answer the "What is wrong" part of your post.. They gave up 91 points in the only two games that mattered on their schedule. Notice how all of the NFL prospects you spoke of play on the offensive side of the ball?

BTW, here is the BCS stipulation that specifically pertains to Notre Dame:

Notre Dame will have an automatic berth if it is in the top eight of the final BCS Standings.

Notre Dame would still sneak in. They wouldn't be lower than 14 in the BCS. With 9 wins, they would get picked.

It's not a good chance. I'd bet my house that they get picked. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rose Bowl took them, considering they get the first two picks if USC beats UCLA.

I'm aware that if they finish in the top 8 they will get an automatic bid, but they just got blasted by 20. They will fall out of the top 10 in the BCS.

True, but if you look back at the recruiting years, Notre Dame is full of great 4-5 star recruits. They should not be giving up as many points as they have been.

True, but if you look back at the recruiting years, Notre Dame is full of great 4-5 star recruits. They should not be giving up as many points as they have been.

#1 - Weis didn't recruit any of them
#2 - Highly rated recruiting classes are nice, but they don't win games. Ask Florida State and Miami.

And let's be honest about ND's recruiting classes from the past few years. Last year they had their best class in years and it had 2 five-star and 10 four-star guys. Only TWO were on defense.

The years before that were NOT good years for recruiting.

I'm aware that if they finish in the top 8 they will get an automatic bid, but they just got blasted by 20. They will fall out of the top 10 in the BCS.

They won't fall as far as you think. And even if they fall, it won't be beyond #14, which is the minimum to qualify.

It's Notre Dame. They bring their own set of rules to the game. This is nothing new.

It means that U-M won't be playing OSU for the national championship (unless some Bizzaro-world type thing occurs), but at least I won't have to listen to all of the OSU fans whine about how it "wasn't fair" and they "never should have had a rematch" when they lose to Michigan in January.

Lets just assume for the sake of argument that USC loses to UCLA. Would this mean that we'd have a USC-ND rematch in the Rose Bowl assuming Florida goes down in the SEC Championship game next weekend?

I think Jarret/Smith would be a big challenge for OSU.

i dont, it is not like OSU cant practice against a very similar offense on the practice fields.

the teams are similar, offenses are potent, but OSU has a defense that is tough as hell, and very rarely lets a team throw on them.
