This mindset of "I'm entitled to free OCd performance" leads to the downfall of many perfectly good video cards.
If I were a manufacturer, I'd lock the clock rates on GPUs.

Overclocking was supposed to be the strength of the 6800 GT. How many times have we heard the "buy a GT and oc to ultra speeds" routine? If you can't overclock your GT, its value drops compared to an overclocked x800 Pro, most of which seem to be holding up nicely on rage3d.
Of course the people you're hearing that from are the people doing it and burning up the cards, not the vendors or makers.

His card is an Ultra, stock overclocked to 425 core. It's mine that's actually overclocked beyond stock speeds.
