Well my Fastro left me high and dry for the last time.

THIS

What you guys think??

Paid $4K for it and it runs and handles like a wet dream, not to mention it is sooooooooo much more comfortable then my astro van ever was.

It even had the original window stickers in it, it sold for $40k when it was new back in 96 😱 and the MPG is an amazing 17 highway according to the sticker, 14mpg city. Thats what my 88 Astro was given and it is way smaller and a 4.3 V6, not a heavy ass brick with wheels, and the size of a small dump truck with a 351ci V8. Not to mention almost as fast as my fastro with the L98 Vette motor under the hood as well. I have to really check but I think 0-60 is under 10 seconds, and for the size and weight, and I mean weight, this thing is heavy, so thats pretty damn impressive if you ask me for a 12 year old van with 172K now on the tick. I look for any excuse the last few days to take it out for fun. Even took it to Kentucky Lake, about a hour and a half drive and used no more then a 1/4 tank.

Err why?

Because I need a van for my on going condition and cant get in and out of cars worth a damn anymore. Plus it will be used for getting groceries and my occasional 1-2 trips a month to see my doctor.

Then there is trips Id like to take my family out on once my SSD comes through.

Nope, step right in and park my fat ass on heated leather seats 🙂

Got the cool mood lighting and tv/vcr package too.

It's a good vehicle for that...

Shit dude, I would have happily sold you my E150 conversion van for half that. It has about 140K I think, but the tranny may be about kaput.

Miles dont bother me just as long as what Im buying passes my tests when I look for blow by out the oil filler, smoke out the tail pipe, and how well it runs as well. This van was well taken care of and miles on it is almost 100% highway. At 172K even all the front end parts were still tight and Im trying to get use to a van with no play at all in the steering, vs my astro with 3 inches of play in the wheel. Had all its fluids checked and changed, new alignment, and took off my fatty 50's off the astro and had them put on the rear of this one.

But as long as you know what to look for, miles shouldnt matter much unless its a 4 banger with a rubber belt for a timing chain, and its some shit box a kid would of put a very hard life 172K on it. Im the 3rd owner of the van, and hope to keep it for a long time.

I've had 3 full size vans, 2 Chryslers and 1 GM, have always heard good things about Fords.

Not a fan of the raised roof though, I have to use parking garages, and it makes them too tall to use one 🙁

I'd love to find an e250 with the 7.3L diesel.

Not to be a pessimist but how do you know those are highway miles?. Nice looking van but try to set aside some $$ in case you need it for repairs. While the vehicles like this with a big motor, big tranny, and big rear end to tend to be durable, sometimes a seal can go bad just due to age and need replacing..

I also asked since he was the 2nd owner, and where I live at everything is 30-50 miles away, all highway to get to 😉

Our stop and go traffic is a old fart doing 45 in a 55.

And thanks to where I live, no salt on roads, the van almost looks mint with a little faded paint and the frame of the van hardly has rust at all on it, looks like show room, just built condition.

That's cool!! I hope that you enjoy it. I have fond memories of camping trips with my boy scout troop and the scoutmaster had a big comfy conversion van that we got to ride in.

dig the conversion vans. mood lighting, full size barco-loungers, entertainment system. Damn, now I'm thinking I should get one

Hey funboy. I always enjoy your posts. You have a bright attitude about everything, even when chips are down.
hope that van works out with many, many miles for you. Sounds very comfy.

There is nothing else but a limo that comes close to riding in a conversion van, especially a high top which imo is the only way to go with one of these. My youngest and wife can stand straight up in the back of it, try doing that in a limo, and the seats, OMG, the seats, heated, lumbar seat inflatable, full power, fells like your sitting in a lazy boy recliner, another thing a limo cant do, just makes driving and riding in it a complete joy.

This is like my 5th one I have owned, and is the best one I have owned with a Choo Choo Customs build and its got all the toys including that kick ass front grill, with the racing wheels and front custom grill, it stands out from all other custom jobs and doesnt scream "old fart mobile".

Thanks for this! I try to keep a good out look, though there are periods I wish it would all end, but I try to keep a good outlook as much as I can. Owning another one of these, this time as an adult with a family, I am having more fun and joy with it. Should of seen my kids faces when I pulled up in it and they got in. I can never let it go.

I have even had the owner of the car wash joint in town offer me $6500 for it, 2500 more then I paid for it, in less then 4 days of owning it. Was very hard for me to say no to that, and had you seen my wife and kids faces you would understand the will power I had to muster up in saying no. Only one I know like it around, and I did look to see if I could replace it with another one, and there isnt one around, so needless to say he was not to happy with my no thanks answer.

Only thing left to do to it is replace the stereo and speakers, they crackle and pop, and put 3 fog lamp bulbs in and it will be near mint and looking really good 🙂

I saw this exact vehicle yesterday, seriously. Same color, same look, same ladder and high roof and color. The one I saw was starting to rust fairly bad, but then this is NY and my 04 van already is starting to rust. Grr.

I have never been in one of these but mrsskoorb's family used to borrow one when she was growing up for long trips, including one with a bed and cabinet in the back and they sure do sound nicer to travel in than a sedan or a minivan.
