It is only $7 an hour, not quite as high as I was looking for, BUT it's in the same mall plaza that Sears is in, and they will give me more hours, and I will be working on computers, so there was absolutely zero reason not to take the job in place of Sears. I will NOT be driving the Beetle and I will NOT be going to people's houses, I will simply be standing behind a desk diagnosing systems and doing hardware and software stuff.

In the middle of the store? The one in Merced has that desk in the middle of the store and the tech's look like fish in a fish bowl. Also at $7 and hour I think you are being vastly underpaid unless you don't know squat.

You are getting hugely underpaid, considering that BB makes a load of money off of their "Geek Squad."

There's a reason they're not letting your ass drive.

Maybe in your area, with a higher cost of living..but McDs here don't pay that.

you know, i applied for a job at best buy recently, b/c i really wanted to work with the cash machines. i've never used them in my life. unfortunately, after i was offered a job i was too lazy to make it to the drug test and i guess that was the end of that. they did offer me 9 bucks an hour though for cashier/customer service.

Yeah but for $7 and hour where's the motivation to take grief from the customers when they bitch about their laptops or other items they can't figure out how to work?

IDK. This summer I worked 21hrs a week doing PC repair, and net work repair/admin at a local school. I got 10 an hour, every one else was making maybe $18-$20. Michigan has low-ass pay rates too. minimum wage is like $5.15 an hour.

Since we are one the subject of wages. I am looking at a job, its actually at a subsidiary of the company that owns the Microcenter chain of computer stores. Anwyays I am not entriely sure of what the job is exactly. They ask like 5 questions in thier ad for it. They ask if you are A+ certified, I am. They ask if you enjoy repairing/building computers in your spare time, sure what the heck, I'm sure it can get boring doing it all day, but its a job. DO you have hardware experience, yes. DO you want to make some extra cash, who doesn't. Are you looking to build your resume, yeah sure experience is always good.

SO I am not sure if I will just be building, upgrading computers. Or if its an actual tech support job or what. It says no experience needed, and they will train. Obviously with the exception of what little experience the A+ says you have. So I am thinking its probablly not tech support. If all it is is building computers, what do you think the going rate for that should be?

There isn't any. For $7/hr I will show up and pretend to work while you're watching me. That is all.
