Ive been swimming in beach all over the world, and the worse contact with marine life i had, was a blue crab hanging onto my swimming shorts. Ive been swimming since I was in my moms stomach. As soon as I jumped into the water, i felt a light stinging on my back, went to reach around back and pulled of the jellyfish tenticle. Will post pics after i find my damn battery charger.

ugh that'd be so creepy to have to pull it off your back. HATE jellyfish - creeppppy

luckily I"ve never stepped on one, however I'm 98% sure one got my neck when I was 7-8 - I think i might have repressed that memory though.

Private beach in Puerto Rico. No flags. No lifeguards. Oddly enough, there was only one.

My buddy got stung by a jellyfish a while back and said it was one of the most painful things he's ever dealt with.

I've been stung a couple of times. It really wasn't too bad in my case. It felt like a sunburn, and didn't last very long, maybe an hour or two. I imagine the severity varies according to species.

I went fishing the other day up in northern Marin in California. The whole beach was covered with washed up umbrella like jellyfishes.
