Thanks everyone. We certainly didn't jump into anything. We took it nice and slow. I think her parents are just upset first with the fact I am living with her right now, and they are scared she will drop out of grad school. To hell with that though. I want her to stay in because my crappy BS degree in Computer Science sure hasn't gotten me jack :)

I have been thinking that even with my crappy pay and her research money she gets paid at school, I should be able to save around $600 a month. If we did that for a year and a half we shoud have enough for a small wedding that we want. Her parents have told her from day one that they will not pay for a wedding because they had to pay for their own. Both her parents grew up in poorer homes so they ended up paying entirely for their wedding. They think we should do the same even though her parents are really well off. That doesn't really bother me. My mom would certainly help if she could but she doesn't make much money on her airline salary. So in all I think that $10000 should easily pay for a nice wedding. The only debt I have is my student loans and $3000 in credit card that I am working on.

BTW: I sell shoes at Sears. I have no problems with any nationality. The only problem I have run had is some Mexicans guys that got angry at me because I couldn't understand their broken english. I tried my best to understand what they wanted. The wouldn't point the shoe they wanted and say the size. They got mad and left. From my limited experience, if Mexicans come in(a woman and man) the woman seems to speak english a lot better. I assume it is because she has learn english to get through her day. Of course then you get the mexican guys that totally understand that their english sucks and have no problem working with me so I can understand how I can help them. A shoe salesman life is not as simple as it seems :) Touching people's feet is not fun :)
