Well I'm pretty screwed. I bought MSFS 2020

It works just fine for me, but for the retired a time sink doesn't begin to describe it. I've always wanted to learn to fly but medically that's out, but even with a keyboard and mouse it's friggin awesome. If I can keep from virtually dying all the time on manual I'll be happy.

FS2020 caused me to buy a honeycomb alpha yoke, bravo throttle and some thrustmaster pedals... and a 3080 GPU and 3440x1440 monitor might be next

it's finally the flight experience i wanted to have when i played FS5 as a kid

last night i was flying all around an island off the coast of eritria in africa looking for flamingos, but i never did find the suckers

Can you crash the plane? I'd probably just spend hours doing that.

oh yeah i have crashed it many times. but it just goes to a black screen, doesn't catch on fire or blow up or anything. only x-plane does that AFAIK.

last night i tried to thread the needle in the shanghai world financial center with my cessna 152... it didn't go well on the first try.

Just went flamingo hunting. Flamingos like the cake, are a lie.

Edit- my video card is middle of the road if that these days, a 1070 but oddly enough everything works well on ultra but there is a lot of lag on busy airports. I have a lot of cores going to waste though as this is a DX 11 game, but MS is doing a DX12 that will allow multicore access and a huge FPS gain. That's supposed to happen come the end of the year, but we'll see.

i have a 1070 as well, did some debugging and it's the limiting factor when i play at 1440p at high settings. still, i can manage to get 25-35 fps.

MS, the creator cause of DX12, released their flagship game w/o DX12 support?

DX12 sucks. Name one AAA game with DX12 support that actually works well? DX13 should have been released a couple of years ago. They need to add instant replay to FS 2020. I am really enjoying the 747. X-Plane 11 is still ahead in flying dynamics and instant replay. Give 2020 a year with updates.

Same. The photo-accurate local airports had my jaw dropping.

Problem is I'm spoiled with a triple 27" monitor setup, and my Devil's Lake i5 + 1070Ti setup is struggling. Looking at those new 3080 cards and an i9 now. Gonna cost $1200 to play this damned game 😀

I also have a triple 27" setup.

I wonder how my 2080 would handle the game at that resolution.

Do you get to hear the screams of your passengers as you try to roll your 747 or force a stall?

Speaking of which, anyone know if it will work in windows 7? I kind of want to buy it, but not bad enough to switch to windows 8 or 10 on my gaming machine.

I don't even know if my machine would handle it, I hear it's quite intensive. It's an i7 but an older gen since it was built at least 5 years ago, I forget for sure but I know I've had it long enough. The GPU is newer though, it's a GTX 1070.

I don't think there's been a new release game, from MSS, anyway--that has worked outside of Win 10 since ~2016 or so.

I know nothing about this flight simulator, but I just saw an article about it with several things you can and can't do. Thought it might be of interest to those of you who do play.

Its on gamepass if you want to try it. First month is only $1. Some good stuff on there right now. FS2020, wasteland 3, CKIII.

I doubt it will run in Windows 7 since MS stopped supporting it in January. It even makes sure you have the Windows 10 1904 or higher.

Oh I have ways to get win10. 😉 I just don't want that crap lol. Though I suppose I could make a sacrifice if I feel the urge to play a game that requires it, considering it's not my daily machine anyway. It's also on a separate vlan so all the telemetry stuff will have limited access to the rest of my network. I can probably block it all at the firewall too. Have not really looked too much into it.

It's not just the telemetry though, I just absolutely hate the user experience of win 10.
