No matter how many times I've seen it on TNT or TBS or DVD, I can always, always watch it again. Stephen King's best work is when he stays the hell away from the supernatural, scary stuff (The Green Mile notwithstanding).

#1 on IMDB for a reason.
tied for #1. c'mon now, you cant kick a great movie like the godfather in the nuts.

and people may say that shawshank has more votes. keep in mind that godfather doesnt really appeal to the younger crowd and also doesnt get shown much if at all on basic cable.

It's so weird to share such a common like with so many people when it comes to a movie. But yes, ever since the first time I watched this movie I greatly enjoyed it. I doubt you will be let down.

that's a very good point. few movies are so universally loved, i wonder what it is about this one that makes it so damn good.

Somebody will come in and crap on it soon enough - this is ATOT afterall.

But it won't be me - awesome movie!

I by no means kicked Godfather in the nuts, it just didn't need to be mentioned since tied for #1 is still #1. Godfather is a great movie but I'm willing to bet more people have seen it then Shawshank, and coupled with the majority of the votes I'd say that's enough for a tiebreaker anyway, but I'm won't say it. The Internet isn't age discriminatory either, I'm sure more mature adults have signed up for their forums then younger ones.

oh my bad. my calendar on my desk said the phrase of the day is 'kick godfather in the nuts' and since i have trouble remembering phrases, i have to use it at least one time today in a sentence.

but i get what you originally meant though, just wanted to bust ya balls. (thats tomorrow's phrase, i like to get a head start on these kinds of things).

No problem, and for the record I do think Godfather is the better movie, I just like Shawshank more.

I liked Godfather, but not nearly as much as Shawshank.
I wasn't particularly impressed at all with Godfather, actually.
