Well I was in Alberston's today...

And at the front of the store they had American flags for sale, for $5. I had always wanted one, so I picked it up. There was no barcode on it though, so the cool cashier rang it up as $2.50. Clear plastic packaging, with nothing written on it, except for Made in China. Oh well 🙂

vons? food 4 less? joe joe market? trader joes?

I hate Albertson's. They are my company's arch-rival.

I had no idea grocery stores could even have arch-rivals? :Q

I live in Austin... and we have three major grocers:
HEB
Randall's
Albertsons
ALBERTSON"S SUCX0RS!!!!!! The one near me went out of business b/c it sucked so bad and was dirty, had crappy produce, and terrible meat... and its an fairly affluent area.
Randalls is AWESOME, but WAY over priced. About 50% more than HEB for the same crap. Randalls produce/fruit is the bomb, though.
I have no bad feelings about Albertson's just going away. "It is the weakest link... GOODBYE".

Where I live there is Safeway, Fred Meyer, K-mart and SAMS Club.

K-mart = crowded with tons of low class citizens
Safeway = best store brand soda pop, GREAT sales, good service
Fred Meyer = nice store, electronics department!, one-stop shopping, but costs more than Safeway
SAMS Club = warehouse ambiance, brigade sized packaging, worst service of all time, but GREAT CHEAP pizza, and cheap everything

woodly6: Yup 🙂 I like Alberstons, its convient to my school...I go shopping there so little I don't mind overpaying (if I do?). Flagship is near my house (nice Randals, but expensive...). Minyards is not that cheap either. Sam's is cheap cause you have to buy in bulk, and they don't always keep everything stocked - its where the companies overload their stuff. Its fun to go shoppin at Sam's though, yummy free samples...

Ever been to a Costco on a Friday or Saturday? You can get a complete meal, with dessert and beverage just by walking up and down the aisles. Lots of good stuff 🙂

Albertsons is cheaper for the same stuff in my area than the only other real competitor (Ralphs). There arne't any Luckys closed to me for comparison. I don't think I would buy Albertson meat though. But the cheapest I've seen canned soda at Ralphs is 2 12-packs for $6 whereas at Albertson's it's for $5 and the same stuff.
