well, i suspect this cd will be good.

This band has an interesting outlook.

I recommend any lovers of music to look into this band; it's truly a supergroup, musicianship and musical creativity to the max, all in a polished, elegant presentation. They cover so many textures it's almost impossible to put a label on it. Progressive rock, maybe, but throw in some NIN, aphex twin, tool, etc. and still..

They are releasing a new cd called Blood in a month. They just posted a sampler of the cd. If you go to the main page, it has a music player at the bottom. It has a sample of each track, in order.

This stuff sounds amazing in my headphones (beyerdynamic dt770 pro). The last track sounds like a masterpiece. The last line " the heart, the heart, it beats for blood" is creepy cool.

EDIT: if you don't have a good system to hear all the details, and don't have an appreciation for music theory or production, then move on, this isn't for you. If you think the singer is monotoned, you need to listen more closely.

I haven't listened to it yet, but god dammit... I want a pair of DY770's so incredibly badly for recording drum tracks. 🙁

their guitar is incredibly simple to the point of boredom

He has no passion in his voice... it's just monotone. Comparing them to Tool is a kick in the balls to anybody who likes Tool. You should be fucking ashamed of yourself

i didn't compare them to tool, just said they had elements that could remind people of them.

tool is one of my favorite bands, and if you think tool is tha tmuch more high and mighty than you are pretty close minded.

There are just elements to Tool that makes them better than most, and this band doesn't have them. The vocals seem very uninspired like he doesn't really have much of a connection to them. He's just going through the motions it seems to me.

Have you heard everything by this band OSI? If you are looking for another Tool, this isn't for you. The mixing and production is top grade here. Awesome musicianship that creeps into the tiniest of details. The vocals won't get you until you listen to them in headphones, and can hear all the little nuances he tweaks with his voice.

Do you know who Gavin Harrison is? He is one of the few drummers I respect like I do Danny Carey. Harrison is the first guy in like 14 years to win Modern Drummer's Best Progressive Drummer award besides Mike Portnoy. (MP was the drummer in OSI's 1st and 2nd cd)

I've been listening to them yes. They aren't bad, and their sampling is pretty solid but again the vocals are lacking IMO. I'm not looking for another Tool I was just saying why I think Tool is so good.

I love this sort of melodic/progressive genre but my opinion hinges on if the vocals can pull it off and that's my only problem with OSI... other than their name of course 😛 It's just an opinion, and it differs from yours. It's that simple.

Radiologue sounds like a sick ass track

The whole thing sounds pretty sick so far. I'd daresay I like it more than DT (way less annoying vocals)

Anywhere online where I can stream their stuff?

You should hear all of OSI's stuff. It's pretty mindblowing once you get a feel for it, get on their wavelength, and experience the entire catalog. I seriously can't wait for this next cd.
