Well, I said goodbye to my Marlboro habit.

FSCK the tobacco companies. I don't want to sue them. I WANT TO KILL THEM!

Don't like it? Tough sh8!

The Indians have some great deals. If you know how, you can get heart and lung transplants also at hugely decounteded prices. Stay away from the livers though even though they have the deepest markdowns.

I used to be impressed by smokers attitude till I found out that it all comes from an alter adict ego. The person's real self is completely subjugated and 'disappeared' by the adict.

And in drift the people who need to chime in with their "its bad for you...boohoohoo!"s...Jesus. I don't try and come over to your house and make you work out, drink a glass of red wine (its good for the heart), and change your electrical system to the latest non-poluting, completely Asbestos system. Don't tell me what to do with my body. I won't tell you what to do with yours. And no, I don't smoke.

Well it's fun. Easy targets always are 😀

Does anyone else find it a little weird that the same government that wants to protect you from your own stupidity forces you to wear your seatbelt and forces you to wear a motorcycle helmet but when it comes to tobacco...just raise taxes?

In California we tax the hell out of cigarettes and we still don't have enough money to pay our bills. Now that complete moron we have as a governor is trying to come up with all kinds of new taxes... SUVs, soda pop, etc.

If during his first two years in office he hadn't increased the budget 40% and added 40,000 jobs to the state payroll we'd be fine, but the internet bubble burst and now we're screwed. And the guy still leads in the polls.

So, my northern friend, it could be worse.

is it just california, or do most states prohibit smoking inside restaurants/bars/or practically anywhere indoors?

im a non-smoker, but there's no need to preach quiting the habit.. im everyone (smoker/non-smoker) has heard the reasons why you should stop/not smoke a million times.. if you dont want to smoke, then light up.. if not, then dont.. pretty simple.

on a lighter note russ, whatcha planning to do with all that money you'll be saving?

No one has answered this yet (that I've seen), so I will. Some states do prohibit smoking in public places, but most don't I live in New York state, and it is up to each individual county to ban it if they want. The county I live in prohibits it, the one my parents live in does not. Though every county I know of here that prohibits it allows it in bars. It is also allowed and bar areas of restaurants and smoking sections if they are 100% closed off from the rest of the dining area.

I for one like it to be prohibited in public places. Some choose to smoke, and that is there right. However, I choose not to and I don't think I should be forced to inhale other people's smoke when I go out to a retaurant. I also hate it when I walk into a building and people are smoking right outside the door, so I have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get in. If you want to smoke, that's your choice, but don't force others that choose not to to breathe in your smoke.

Well, I finally decided to hope that you die and agonizing death of lung cancer at home because you can't afford the treatment and the insurance companys, medical industry, and government decided to let people who want to commit suicide by cigarette do so. I'm tired of paying for welfare shitheads bad habits and medical care.

geeez, that's soo cold ! 🙁

I wouldn't wish that on anybody and seeing it wished on somebody I consider a friend doesn't make me too happy !

Yeah, I'll smoke now, think about it later. Just another cigarette....

Good for me though, I finally kicked my American Spirit Ultra Lights to the curb, couldn't face myself anymore, had to stop the rationalizing. It will catch up to you one way or another. It's easy to put off facing that, the day it does catch you probably won't be for a while, but you'll be standing there cursing yourself for ever starting before you know it, when you get that diagnosis. Not me anymore, it's plenty of anti-oxidents and double time roadwork now 🙂

75 cents extra tax here per pack. I am glad I do not smoke, so I can support my cheaper habit, crack.

If you are speeding and have an automobile accident, should we just let you bleed to death on the side of the road?

"Accident" is the key word in your statement. It is NEVER an ACCIDENT when someone picks up a pack of smokes (emblazoned with warnings), puts one in their mouth, and strikes a match. I'll tell you what though. All the crapheads that you see in the police chase videos should be allowed to bleed to death.

Man, all this yelling and fighting about smokes is crazy!

"Why can't we all just get along?"

Quote by Rodney King -- My Hero!

Over my dead body! I'd rather have my head bashed in than think that guy was right!

Ok, I need a smoke. Just lit up. Thanks guys! 😉

Whoever said 400,000 Native Americans die each year from tobacco smoking please show a link... I find the number unbelieveably high. If you are right, that means no more Native Americans in a few years. It doesn't sound right, that's almost half a mill a year dead.

Cigarette tax. packs cost $4-5 in most places.

I smoke and I watch my diet. And I exercise. So the hell with you bastards! 😀 😛

Seriously. No one here has any right to bitch about someone elses' habits. Everyone has a vice, some don't even realize it. I can find at least one habit or practice in everyone's daily life which someone else would consider "filthy", "dirty", "unhealthy" or just plain not agree with.

And Russ, good choice. I gave up the Marlboro addiction a long time ago (when $20 was considered ridiculous for a carton of cigarettes) and now stick to Worth for ~18.50 per carton. 😀
