The refurbished price of $399 for a 4gig iphone put me over the top. It'll only end up costing me 50-60 bucks in the long run because I'm selling my nano, and since I can upgrade with Cingular, I'll pick up a phone and ebay that as well.

Begin flames..... NOW! :D

Flames? Nah, I'll just move this to the proper forum. -Anandtech Moderator DrPizza

I think they're neat, but I'd have no use for one. Is the Patriots' site iPhone friendly? :p

I have yet to find a phone that I am satisfied with. My GF is always giving me a hard time about getting a new phone every few months.

it comes down to one thing, and one thing only when I determine how much I enjoy using a cell phone. How quickly it responds to me when i push the button.

... looking back i seriously don't know how i ended up with the absolute worst cell phone on the market with regard to responsiveness :frown:

nokia 6102 <=== it takes 3 solid seconds from when i click the 'numbers' button to when it is loaded :\

Heheh, it should be. It'll be a great phone to have on gameday that's for sure. I have 4 fantasy football teams to keep track of! :p

I like the concept of the iPhone, just don't like all the graphical stuff, it bothers me. I want a stripped down version of the iPhone that can run a mail application all day without crashing, have multiple browser windows, etc.

I don't want the mp3 player stuff, camera, etc.

I'm very glad that Apple made the iPhone, huge step in the right direction and for those that are fine with the GUI, you've found a great phone. I think most everyone that has one, likes their's.

This is probably a stupid question but I will ask anyway. When they say the Iphone is wifi compatible, does that mean I can use the college wifi to surf the net on the phone? I had a treo that claimed to be wifi compatible but it had to be through Cingular.

I actually dont' mind AT&T too much. I think their basic 59.99 iphone plan is probably the best I'll find, regardless of which carrier I use.

congratulations, welcome to the club. The only reason I'd want to unlock my iphone is for use overseas so i'm not charged roaming. I've been with Tmobile before swithcing to Cingular, now att. It's not as if Tmobile is that much better of a carrier and if you don't get the unlimited data plan, you run the risk of seriously running up your bill with all the data you're downloading. I've been able to log on to my schools wifi and browse with it. It is neat to have the weather, stocks, email, and anything online wherever i'm at. The phone uses wifi when available and EDGE when wifi isn't in range. EDGE is slow but not as bad what a lot of haters are saying.

I'm really pleased with mine, except for AT&T's horrible service. "Fewest dropped calls" my eye! It's like being thrown back to 1999 :( I just drove across the country and the reception is great on long stretches of farmland in Kansas but trash in big cities like Hartford, especially if you walk into a building or home. Bleh. My only wish is for a CDMA version to come out so that I can go back to Verizon, where I never ever ever had a dropped call. I get at least 3 dropped calls a day and a lot of times calls simply won't go through. If I'm inside a structure, I have to go stand by a window to get a couple bars and pray that I can make a simple cell phone call without having to hike outside for a signal. My wife's iPhone is the same way, so I know it's not just me. Please, please, please give us a CDMA iPhone soon, Apple!

Other than that I love the iPhone and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I use so many things on it - Phone, SMS, Notepad, Internet, Email (big one! multiple accounts is a plus), YouTube (although they only have a small selection for the iPhone), Camera, Maps, Clock, Calculator, Calendar, and the iPod. I was skeptical of the whole Coverflow idea on the iPod part but it really does make it the best iPod ever made. I love how easy Maps is to use, I use it all the time to find stuff around town. It's just a really incredible device - so powerful yet so easy to use. And the battery life lasts all day! Couldn't say that about my previous V710 or Moto Q.

Safari kicks ass with the Screen

If you noticed Cingular's marketing doesn't do "Fewest Dropped Calls" anymore

No one really answered your question directly so I thought I would. Yes, with the iphone, you can connect to any wifi hotspot and connect to it. I have my iphone hooked up to my linksys wireless router on a cable internet connection, safari is crazy fast when i do this ;)

I know that ATT will unlock a phone if you call their international dept and say you are planning to travel overseas, but I wonder if they'll do it for the iPhone?
