Well, I got my Dell i9300 *FIXED*

A while ago I posted that I was looking for a laptop. I got my Dell 9300 a few weeks ago, and wanted to update the thread with some pictures. Look what I found when I took a pic of it with the flash on:

bad screen

I'm gonna email Dell in a minute and see what needs to be done.

EDIT: Well that was easy enough. "The dispatch number is xxxxxx. The technician will schedule an appointment and will replace the LCD kit in two business days." Apparently they're going to come here to fix it. Nice!

I wish. That was the second picture I took of the screen, after using a microfiber clothe on it... looks just the same as the first one I took.

That's a bummer dood. My i9300 came here without a scratch on it. I've been using it for a while now (I got it in May), and there's only 1 dead pixel (in the far upper-left of the screen). Its a great lappy, and I'm sure Dell should get it fixed and working great.

Bah!

Guy came to replace the LCD.. new one is worse. Black levels are horrible, light still bleeds from the bottom, and there is a dead pixel. Shoulda kept the other one.

Sad to hear that you are having problems. My 9300 is awesome. No dead pixels, no scratches, only a slight leak at the bottom, and I don't care about that at all.

Hopefully, they get yours fixed.

I liked the first guy I talked to on Dell chat.. very straight forward.. now they're having me do a million things with software issues... the bright spots on the screen are obvious when the computer is booting before windows loads. It's not a driver issue.. I don't need to patch my games.. I don't need to update my bios.. I'll do as they please, but I don't see how it's going to fix the bright spots.. perhaps its a backlight issue? Sigh...

Finally after 90 minutes they are agreeing to send out a new LCD. Lets pray 3rd times a charm!

Dang! Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

I'm using the i9300 we just bought for our son going to college, and it makes my own laptop look like junk. We purchased three years of on-site service with it, so I'm interested in hearing more about your experience the Dell support.

Good luck!

Just got the new screen - it looks great! No dead pixels, no scratches, and the black looks black. There is a little bit of light bleeding in from the bottom, but I think that's just the way it is.

Btw, can you estimate battery life? I'm thinking of getting one but I wanan know battery life!

I've got the 90Whr battery and it averages 3 to 3 1/2 hours on a full charge. But I don't game so that is just general (light) usage.

So a 6 cell battery should last around 2 hours surfing the web and typing documents? How about watching Mpeg-2/avi files?
