Well I for one find Waffle House rather delightful.

Why do I feel as if this is completely overkill for a waffle maker? As long as both sides are heated equally and have that waffle shape.... it's a waffle maker. Something to fit that description shouldn't cost $200 as far as I'm concerned.
 
That is what I am thinking. i havent priced waffle makers but surely you can buy one for $50 or less that will make a good waffle

Made in China too, I avoid Chinese crap whenever possible and I now refuse to buy anything that is concealed where its made to keep the price high if I have to go Chinese made I go cheap. I don't like rewarding companies for shifty behavior.

My mom has a basic $25 Oyster one, waffles come out decent, but not uniformly brown and not the same crispness on the outside and fluffiness on the inside. How much I paid is probably overkill price wise. But I've owned about 10 different, and used a few other peoples waffle makers. And none worked as well as mine. After I bought mine I got to try the Breville one, and it makes flawless waffles. I've never seen such perfect & even browning. But for $250 it should work as such.
 
I just have a cheap non-flip waffle maker - I would say they may not come out as fluffy as the flipping makers (which by the way, hotels, wafflehouse all use the same ones), but it works fine. Also makes great sandwiches..and whatever else you want to throw in there 🙂

Waffle house is delicious. Too bad closest is over an hour and half away. Just nasty ihop and Dennys up in this hood. Lol

Waffle Houses are all over in the regions they operate and when I go there typically isn't any other diner open except IHOP. Waffle House is a better deal any time of the day.

And don't tell me that I shouldn't eat there because there are better places. I've never had better bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese anywhere in my life and there's nothing any other diner could do to improve on it. If they are better than Waffle House at those then they have sold their souls to the devil.
 
Fun fact: FEMA uses a Waffle House Index here in the south "to determine the impact of a storm and the likely scale of assistance required for disaster recovery"

And I do not think I know anyone that goes to WH for breakfast, that is not when you go. E.G. I have some great memories of Waffle House; being out partying till the bars close, with my wife and friends. Then, hitting WH up for some smothered, covered, chunked, diced, and capped with eggs over easy.

Back in the 90's here, we did not have gastro pubs or anything of the sort. Bar food was overpriced and terrible, even after drinking. Denny's service was terrible and slow. But, WH was way out by the interstate, no where near the bars, and being able to watch it made is something that always put me at ease. I have been known to inspect a kitchen before I will eat somewhere, even upscale.
