Well I finally have proof- "The Pic"

Hayabusa Rider

Admin Emeritus & Elite Member
When I joined some years back I needed a screen name. I looked out my window and saw my bike, and "Hayabusa Rider" was born 🙂

For years we hadn't forum software which would allow us to embed pics but we do now.

I was sorting some 16K pics (that's right, 16897 to be precise) in Lightroom and I found a pic I had taken of it.

Well no more lame excuses.

Pic!

Very nice bike. Never got the pleasure of riding it, but I sat on one for a while at the bike shop. A lot heavier than my sv650 and it seems (again, never rode one) like it wouldn't be able to corner very well.

Still it's so damn sexy.

You lie through your snaggly teeth, Hayabusa Rider! Yeah, this is probably a mod callout thread, but I don't care.

Why can't you just fess up and tell the truth? Does it hurt you mods to be up front with the members at least once in awhile?

It seems to be a disease of the brain that attacks when one weasles his way into the bat cave. Is it the fecal droppings you all wade through that stirs up the brain eating dust that causes you to lie so profusely and invade the lives of the AT members?

You disgust me.

Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.

It's sexy. How fast have you taken it?

A NH state trooper I used to ride with every now and again knew a closed road which we could use for high speed runs. He clocked us with radar. I hit 197. Note the closed road part. It was to be a connector between two other roads, and it was paved. It just needed the ramps finished.

That was by far the fastest I've ever ridden. I'm not in a hurry to kill someone by misbehaving in traffic.

I assume that's mph? 😱

Yeah if you wreck it would be like a fly hitting the windscreen at highway speed! 😱

What's a reasonable quarter as it is without wheelie bars?

I'm not sure what it does in the quarter, but I've seen quotes for 0-100 (yes mph) in 3+ seconds. I can't say because I can't really count accurately when accelerating full throttle.

As far wrecking, that depends. This was a wide straight section of road, and what you need to remember is that when you fall off a bike, you are only feet above the ground. In full gear and armor you will most likely get up and walk away. Yeah, you'll hurt like hell, but you'll live. The problem is when there's something in the way. The sudden stop is what gets you.

The other thing is that a rider needs to know how to react to a fall. If you fight it or try to stop yourself that's when you will be seriously hurt.

Professional riders fall off their bikes more than they like, but for the most part it's bruises.

Yes that's just it - there's always something in the way. The laws of physics are enforced with the highest penalty. 😉

what bike is this? looks fucking sick

i want to take some bike lessons this summer and buy one to ride around on weekends. my ideal one is the zx636 right now (by looks, i dont know anything about bikes)

Suzuki SV650. Not as fast as the OP's bike but a hell of a lot of fun on twisty roads. It will do 0-60 in 4 seconds flat and has a top speed of 130mph. I bought it new in April 2008 and I have almost 11,000 miles on it now.

SV's are a great bike. There's a ton of aftermarket parts for them, and IIRC there are racing classes based on the SV.

That's the nice thing about motorcyclists. We can all appreciate when others get out and ride, no matter what they have. Well, unless you own a Harley 😉

That's a cool bike. I keep toying with the idea of picking another one up someday and turning it into a badass cafe racer. I had an old Honda CB750 but it was the 1979 which was the first year of the DOHC models and those aren't very desirable...too heavy and not much more power.

I thought only the Super Sport had dual front brakes. Is that a different front end on that bike? I know it's not a Super Sport because the rear brake is drum and the SS models had a rear disc brake. Nevermind, I see it has different wheels on it too. Must have a donor front end.
