Well I been lucky enough, or not lucky, to get a BETA key for Battlefield Heros

Gonna try the sucker out here in a few. Been waiting for what seemed a lifetime and completely forgot all about putting in for one, till I woke up at the crack of noon today and there it was sitting in my in box.

I got to down my wake up wacky pills, puff on a smoke, drink some J, and go kill me some newbs

Or I should say by that time Id be so high on the pills the doc gave me, Id be doing everything the game was not meant for, I should be finding bugs all over the place in it

Rollin of hills, hittin trees, firing at birds, trying to kill myself with friendly fire, anything but play the game the right way, catching jellyfish

This should be interesting to say the least, they gave a beta key to a idiot, so anyone else who has one, watch out, the village idiot is about to come and play.

Well so far not to impressed. It locked up first try. I started the game. It said I had to make a dude, so I did, any name I tried it wouldnt take till I gave up and tried my screen name, the one Im always using everywhere, and it took that, then asked if I wanted to go back and play the game, clicked yes, and bam, it just stayed at a blank game screen playing the music. I ended up closing the game screen, and took me to the questions page, and all it was asking me was if I went to the store, what I liked about the store, what Id buy at the store, what Id like to see in the store, and hell I havent even had the chance yet to play the damn thing one time yet, and not one question was how the game play was, or if it even ran, so I filled it out correctly, and gave my 2 cents.

Im about to try again. It cant be my pc, there is nothing special about it, Im not overclocking anything at all, I built it, and it will play almost any new game out there at almost the highest rez with all the eye candy on, so I think a little free, web game should be no problem. Im hoping it was just a little fart it had between the game page, and the web page when it sent me out to make my guy, and then back into the game, it messed up, and maybe I should of made a guy before starting the game.

Maybe this time I will have a better time, but my luck isnt the best as most knows, and this time it will work, but I got one hell of a storm coming in, so Im sure once it does start my power will get bonked out for a few hours

2nd time around wasnt too bad. It looks great. Shadows, player, buildings, grass, it all looks really good for a "cartoon" shooter. As for sound, Im using Onboard Reatek HD sound on my Abit CF board hooked up to my Z5500, the sub is under my desk and it doesnt let down at all! Sub at max, volume at 3/4, and my walls and windows are rattling, the air under my desk is making my shorts and hairs on my legs move around, so when things blow up, or you fire the sub or shot gun, its all ear candy as with the rest of the games up to this one.

I only played the tutorial so far, and just for a bit, my pills are really kicking in right now, and I got to get something in my gut before I try to go further with it, but so far shooting at trees, making my jeep and tank blow up, or blow things up with the tank, and the eye candy, its pretty damn good. I will have to see how it does with play other people on line to see why this hasnt been released yet. I'ts been on the burner now for over a year, and being pushed back even more for this was supposed to come out to play last summer. When it does come out I can see my and my 2 boys having some fun with it together, if Im still around when it does come out that is.

Later tonight Im going to see how it does on my laptop and see how it plays on a less then stellar machine.

Have you played TF2? Does it compare at all, or is the graphical style the only thing that's really similar?

Dont have that game, wanted it, just never really been high on my list of what to blow what little fun money I get to blow it on that considering Id need to buy 2+ copies of it if my boys were to play it with me, and I find that to be very unfair for companies to make families pay for extra copies of the games. So it sits on the back burner for now unless my life changes somehow, or that game becomes extremely sill ass cheap.

Well try to get in on the next free weekend for TF2 so you can see if you like it. It goes on super sale through Steam periodically as well.

I just watched this video with gameplay footage. Looks ok, though I found some of the sound effects a bit annoying. Hope I get into the beta to try it out soon.

I went to my rents place last week and my little brother got in, bastard!

It was fun to watch and IMO, looks like TF2, but more BF2 ish... haha, he was able to shoot down a PLANE with his sniper rifle...pretty funny.

I hope to get in so I can play some.

Just by watching, i'd give it a 7/10...and isn't it going to be free? Except you get to purchase clothes, or accessories later on.

My biggest issue is it's a browser that loads a client...WUT?

From the look of it, you could rank up, like BF2.

Heroes is nothing like TF2, it's just a simplified and streamlined version of Battlefield 2.

I'm in the beta, it's pretty cool but a little limited, I'm hoping this is just for the beta and the full game will have much more content and fleshed out maps.

frap it, send me the raw avi via ftp (i will set you up an acct on my home server) and then i will convert it to something like mp4 becaused even "hq" youtube sucks and can host it somewhere in its full glory .

can you game it and fraps it at say, 1280x720?

it is a mix of tf2 and bf2 (btf2?)

-the gameplay is old school bf cap the points and control the map. limited numbers tho, i think like 16-24 total players.
-the classes are mishmashed tf2. gunner(soldier,medic) support (engy,heavy) commando (sniper/spy). [comeon, a sniper who can turn invisible and stab people: cheezeeey]

i believe the same balance issues that plagued bf2 and '42 still exist. as long as planes and tanks are limited in number, having a bad pilot or tanker will hurt your team. and teammates fighting over the vehicles will probably still happen. it may even be worse with such small player limits.

i might play it with some friends for laughs; only as long as it is free, doesnt require a 3+ GB download, and someone paid me.

It LOOKS like TF2, plays a bit like BF2....real type of guns, planes, tanks, etc.

I doubt this, because my little brother shot down a plane with a sniper...so it may not be a huge deal like vehicle camping is in BF2.

The vehicles are somewhat limited. From what I have seen the planes only have machine guns, no bombs, limits there usefulness a bit. not sure if you can use a joystick to fly. The tanks just have the main cannon, no secondary machine gun to quickly take out infantry, the main canon seemed to require a few hits with the main gun to kill someone. Really, the tank seemed a little bit useless, I would rather use the jeep to run people over with since it is much more maneuverable.

It's funny when you realize that players can sit on the wings of planes and shoot while you're flying.

Well I got a beta key (thanks cheapherk!!) and got to play a little on Saturday, but I'm not sure how much I like it. It feels a tad too much like BF2, which I hate, so that's not a good start. The vehicles are a tad too powerful and the characters move far too slow (why wouldn't they have a 'sprint' key like in BF2??). The "spy" seems somewhat ineffective on the 2 maps I tried, mainly because they are just too big and the vehicles; very strange that class is also the Sniper. There also does not feel like enough of a difference between the different types of guns, though maybe that changes when you start to purchase new items. Needs voice chat as well, it's way too much of a free-for-all without it.

I'll give it another shot tonight.

Give me the key. I love battlefield 2. Actually its my favourite game ever made. Though it had problems many of them. Once you finally got into the game it was great fun. Very fun with roommates.

I have been excited about this game forever hope it lives up to its name.
