First find the gas cap (filler) on a 1956 Chevy Belair.

...............................................

Whats the strangest place you have ever seen a gas cap, or the hardest to find?

Otherwise no one would use the *other* side of the pump of course!

That's ridiculous. You can only pull into an auto teller one way. You can only drive up to a fast food pick up window one way. You only drive on one particular side of the road. Guess which side should have the filler?

1977 AMC Gremlin.

Under the monstrous emblem in the middle of the back, like the earlier Mustangs.

'56 Chevy you turn a lever 90 degrees to the left. How about the Caddy?
I think it's lifted from the bottom. Didn't know the Chevy had a latch like that.

Passenger side IMO. Keeps the driver from opening his door into the gas pump.

The hose is six feet long. I don't think you need to pull THAT close! My God, no wonder cars get so many door dings in parking lots!

Incorrect, It was under the liscence plate... Up to 1976 they had it on the side covered by a cap that had the gremlin logo on it. People thought these these were nifty and stole them.

Under the hood/trunk (in the front).

Yep and they had no fuel guage. There was a lever inside on the passengers side that you could flip to open the reserve tank. Assuming you had remembered to flip it back at the last fillup you had about 30 miles to find a station. We just kept a stick in the trunk that we used to check the level.

Hoses here are teathered to the pumps, was the same where I grew up in Ohio (near Toledo). PITA getting the hose any significant distance from the pump, which is already a foot back from the concrete islands. 3 foot distance from the pump was about the maximum that was manageable.

Besides, if I'm the three to four foot from the pump that I would need to get my door open fully, my car would be blocking the center aisle and prohibiting people from driving through the two pump islands.
