Okay, that's what I thought. I was on a field trip to the local Adelphia server station in my BOCES class, and it was severely unreliable with outages regularly. This was at the early stages of the talk about Time Warner's acquisition. Since then the outages seem like they've decreased substantially. I wasn't sure if they fixed that station, or scrapped it.

Once Time Warner does this crap where I live I'll......I'll.......I'm going to bend over and take it. They are the only option for Internet where I live, I can't even get DSL.

In a conference call discussing their fourth quarter results this morning, Time Warner Cable COO Landel Hobbs said that the cable operator would be expanding their metered billing experiment into additional cities this year. Hobbs didn't say which cities would get the honor. A spokesman suggests to me that there will be four of them, but you can be sure it won't be anywhere the company faces competition from Verizon FiOS (NYC comes to mind).

Meanwhile, Microsoft has to pay billions in fines for what is claimed to be anti-competitive and monopolistic practices.

As much as I like TW, if this gets implemented in my area, I'm gone. We have DSL service and another cable company in this area as competitors so I'm not totally screwed. Shame too, I haven't had any problems with their service and speeds have always been quite good.
