Been wanting to go through the MCSE stuff. Just pushed the order button for the 4 core requirement books.

I get to learn the "Microsoft Way". Joy. I know quite a lot already, just have to find the "proper" way to answer some questions, etc.

Will be nice to put on the resume. Although it's kind of ridiculous that I have to get a piece of paper to even be considered for a position I could do already. Oh well.

I'm tiring of some of the stuff I'm doing now (lots of data analysis as I'm a Database Analyst + various other IT stuff here) and looking for a switch.

Wish you the BEST of Luck in getting it done!

I am going through the process of upgrading to 2003 certs and doing my CISCO CCNA then CCNP at the same time.

oooh...lots of studying there.

I'm going with the 2003 track as the 2008 track isn't really complete yet anyway, and most places aren't going to be switching over to 2008 anytime soon, and when it's needed I should only need 2 tests I think to update it.

I almost got the NT4 MCSE years ago, but I didn't pursue it at the time.

You'll have to take all the tests coming from NT4 though. So much has changed since then. But then if you've been working in a windows server environment since NT4, you shouldn't have any issues.

Seriously don't just use the Microsoft Official books to study. The official MS study books don't include all that you need to pass the tests. I know it is BS but in my experience they will have stuff on the test that is not in the official curriculum. I have both my MCSE and CCNP, I haven't take a MS test in several years but that has been my experience with them. At least with the Cisco tests the official curriculum includes everything that you need to study to pass the tests.

Well I ordered the MS Press books. Between that and the hands on experience that I have/will get, that should be good. I may also get the exam cram books or something else to supplement the MS Press books.

Well good luck. I do recommend that you study something else besides the official curriculum.

How long do you think it will take to go through the 4 core textbooks OdiN?

I bought one book and I'm going to start with that.

Anyone have any comments with actualtests? Did they help?

Fun times OdiN. I did my MCSE stuff for Win2K Server, it wasn't all that bad. But I didn't self study, I took my courses through ODU in a class/lab environment.

Download the Testking type prep tests.
They help a ton.

I'm sure you can find a way to get them for free.

I really don't know. But my goal is to complete the whole MCSE within a year. It may be a bit of a challenge considering I'm working full time.
