Ah! Latin. I hate it. Everyday in the class was worst than the one before. First year I got a B and the second year I got a C. I was pretty upset that I got a C, but I am sure as hell glad that I was out of it. So far (only this semester left), its the only C I have ever gotten in high school.

So in the end.....fvck latin.

Edit: I believe they only look at your final grade.

Not really. Not 1 C in one high school class.

And to the OP: Grow some balls. There comes a time in every rebellious teenager's life when he flat out ignores his parents, and does whatever the hell he wants anyway. Go out with your friends, do whatever. What are they gonig to do? Ground you? WHat if you leave anyway?

I'm not really in favor of being disobedient for no reason, but this punishment is ridiculous. Maybe your parents could use some perspective on how good of a son they actually have.

C's suck. I just got my first one last semester in AP statistics. If I tried my hardest I wouldn't feel bad about it, but I slacked off severely. Oh well, it's senior year bvtches!

I understood the consequences but it is an AP class. College level which is 2-3 years above my current grade. It is tough, they just do not really care that it is weighted. They dont see that Colleges look at FInal Average and GPA. In their mind a 'C' is a 'C'.
You will need to learn to study if you want to do well in college. In college not studying will get you a C at best in math and science classes. You might manage a B in other classes, but a sub-3.0 GPA will hurt you when you're job hunting.

I assume your parents are concerned about NHS because they want you to look good on college apps? You should tell them that varsity sports helps too.

I knew this asian kid that got a C in a science class once and he literally started to cry during class.

For me i always concidered a C not too bad, I prefered As or Bs but a C was still decent, its the D's and F's that get ya.

i was a comp sci major, and never went to ANY math classes, never studied and still got A's...as long as I did the homework, I was fine....not trying to brag, just saying everyone is different.

Well my parents and i talked. And from the looks of it im not being grounded from anything, but im not sure yet.

They told me that they were disappointed and they KNOW that i can do better. They said they do reallize it is an AP class and that my GPA will still be a 3.3-3.4. They are awesome parents and i wouldn't have any other, they want me to have an awesome life.

The funny part is i know i can do better too. I think it is time i start learning discipline :

To answer your question im not lazy or stupid, just lack discipline for homework.

Can someone tell me if colleges will know my 9weeks grade. Like what do i put on my College Transcripts, what exactly do they see? Just GPA and my final average?

-Kevin

Depends on how you do it. Listen, I failed every course but one in five years of high school. I'm not joking, I had a cumulative .012 gpa. I signed up at community college to get my state diploma and was accepted immediately, nothing being said about grades. Once I was in college, no other school has EVER asked for anything else. Not ODU, not PSU, not WSU, none of them. High school grades mean exactly squat unless you're looking at ivy league or specialty programs...and even then you can get around it by going to some other college and excelling first, or having superior test scores and such. Colleges are there to make money, not be elitist. Grades just don't matter very much in the long run.

The 'C' will come in AP Latin. My GPA will still be a ~3.4 so ill remain in NHS, and because AP LAtin is weighted i still make honor roll.

My parents are the ones who do this.

I love them a lot and i know why they will probably do this, but it wont help anything. Only thing it will happen is make me miserable.

Edit: Lol im not asian. White 😛
As for the misunderstanding, well my grounding wont come in effect until report cards come home so 10 weeks from that time.

While I agree with what I hope is in your parents' hearts, doing all this to you for a freaking C is stupid, especially since it was LATIN for Christ's sake. You have no choice though, respect your parents, and don't get any more C's. 🙁

That's not an absolute truth by any means. What people know or what they can do is hardly measured by gpa. I have aced some math and science classes without ever cracking a book or going to class (granted not many), because it was review or due to the way the class was graded. No one thing will get you an A, and getting an A now adays really doesn't mean anything because of grade inflation.

Got a 'C' on my report card. I guess i wont be on the forums for the next 10 Weeks. Among that i lose:

Car
Cell Phone
Computer
TV
Job
Varsity Baseball
As a result i am completely out of touch with my friends.

Its been good everyone, i guess in a couple more days ill be posting in 10 weeks. Maybe on the outside chance a miracle would happen, I could use it!

Bye all

Poor guy.

Can I use your Mercedes and cellphone while you're grounded?

If you haven't realised im not feeling very happy right now. :|

I didn't goof off, the quizes are just hard, and my translations haven't been literal enough. But Latin can be hard at times.

I have only gotten a 'C' on a report card 3 times in my life 🙁

Don't be discouraged. This won't ruin your high school career nor your college prospects.

I would talk to your parents about the punishment. Explain that baseball and your job are important responsibilities and that you have obligations to other people. Also explain that you will talk to your Latin teacher about why you are struggling and how you can improve.

You sound like a smart kid who's been caught off guard by their first real challenge. It happens to everyone. Hopefully you can learn from it, double your efforts and improve your grade.

Good luck!

10/10
