the issue isn't really w/ total heat. in the current setup if the cpu got a little hotter and the gpu a little cooler, but still the same overall temp inside the 360 there wouldn't be as many failures because the gpu would be cooler and that is the main contributor to the failures. the problem is the massive amounts of heat one particular item inside makes and therefor fails from it. even if you have a cpu that makes 20% less heat, that just means that the gpu will take a bit longer to heat up the entire interior of the 360 and then you will still be at the same temp because the gpu runs so hot and it is not like ms did a whole overhaul on the vents - sure maybe a little here or there and probably are now putting in someting similiar to the talismoon fans, but that still doesn't rectify the problem of the overheating gpu.
who knows, maybe this will drop the failure rate down to just 25% instead of the estimated 33%+ that it currently is....but it still sounds pretty bad compared to the industry average of 3-5%
