I do think it strange that so many more people are allergic now versus 30 or 40 years ago and, I do not think it is a matter of greater awareness.

I did the same to my son many years ago, only it was cow's milk that I put on his morning cereal instead of soy milk. He spent the rest of the day in the hospital, and to this day if he wants to get under my skin he just reminds me of the time I put milk on his cereal.

This is it entirely. They want to protect themselves from a lawsuit, so if a peanut came within 100 miles of the packaging plant, they put the disclaimer on the label.

What sucks is that many products don't have peanuts in them, and my son and others would like to eat them, but can't because of the warning.

Depending on the age of the kid (reading level/comprehension), shouldn't he have noticed there was a butterfinger in there and not eaten it? Assuming the butterfinger was individually wrapped in plastic and not mixed in with the rest of the food....

Bad dad? Whenever I see you post, I picture you as a father figure. I think it's because you had a thread about a trainset for your kids, and then you had pictures of them dressed up as superheroes. It may not be you, but that's what I think of when I see your posts.

Regardless, you obviously love your kids and you shouldn't feel bad. Things like this happen to everyone, and something like it will happen again. It's life.

I blame your wife. She told you to pick up the Lunchable. If it were my husband, and I had told him to grab something, he wouldnt think to re-read something I already said to get. He'd assume that I knew already.

That being said, poor kiddo! My friend has a daughter that is highly allergic, airborne, to peanuts. epi-pen is always around just incase.
