Seems I'm stuck with win95 for the time bieng. ... so I'll make the best of it.

I got the K6-2/350 and up patch for Win95 and OCed my K6-3+/450 to 550 .. so far everything's good, I'll test out HL in a sec...

Go for the Gusto- I've got one running at 616! Seems like it makes for a good upgrade for the K6-2, but they are pretty hard to find now days

🙂

Well 550 seems fine for me .. No point in pushing it, since my games won't run lagless no matter what, I'm limited by my Banshee (in high resolutions at least). 550 will suffice...

i'm sure I *could* do 616, but I don't want to bother taking the risk.

LOL- I can relate to that- only reason I felt like pushing it was because this is a "junkyard" system made up of leftover parts- I've got less than $150 in it!

K6-3+ 450 $39 (screwed up and ordered for a upgrade of a customers computer- then found out that it won't run a K6-3+ despite what the latest bios file said!)
Fic VA-503+ (left over from a repair job- bad fan headers)
WD 7200 20 gig $69 (found on special- was supposed to be a 5400, but they were out, so sub'ed a 7200!)
Generic PC 133- $25
Video- 8 meg Nvidea Riva 128 (leftover from upgrade job)
Sound- leftover SB 16 (good enough for my purposes)
Case & 250 watt PS - $3 (local prison rebuild computers for schools and Gov't- they sell leftover parts to local junkyard- if you hurry you can get a good deal before they crush them!)

I have mine running at 616MHz too. 😀 (see my sig) That is the max i could get it though. Anything faster and it wouldn't POST.
